No, I don’t have any regrets about eating animals.

I am too, I just live with it and move on. I've learned that sugar coating things does nobody any good in the long run, and I really don't care too much about other people's sensitivities.... people are too overly sensitive these days, it's like an Olympic sport for some folks to see what all they can possibly get offended about. I don't have the time for your recreational outrage, lol
My wife calls me an equal opportunity offender. I wonder sometimes if we give too much power to words rather than deeds. I grew up in the “words can never hurt me” days ( and the “I’ll give you something to cry about” day) and I wonder if the PC culture is well intended but counter productive- oh boy did this thread go sideways...

Back in high school I decided to become a vegetarian. I just didn't like the idea of eating the flesh of an animal. This was back before google was a verb and so I didn't really educate myself on balanced diets. I just stopped eating meat but the rest of my diet didn't change. My family didn't really get it but they also didn't try to make me eat meat. About 6 months in and my mom and I where shopping at the mall. We decided to have lunch at Subway. Half way through my sandwich I realized what I had done; what I was eating. I had ordered a BLT. My body was craving protein and bacon was the answer.

The thought of eating the flesh of an animal still pops in my head sometimes. I think now that I have raised and butchered my own meat I have more respect for that animal's life. More than when I was in high school. I guess that's why I eat a lot less meat than the 'average' American. I'll go days without; not because I find it morally wrong but because I know first hand what it takes to get to my plate.

Moral of the story: Bacon is magic.

I can tell you one thing... People up north are more blunt and to the point, they don't take offense in things so quickly. They just tell you to get bent...

Where I am in Virginia people get very offended over everything you say, I can barely talk without someone getting offended.

I believe it's all in the way you were raised and where you live and how you react to certain situations.

I'm hotheaded I go from 0 to 100 and 2.2 seconds... That's a New England thing :gig

My husband would agree about bacon :clap

I think when I process my own meat in March because that's when these chicks will be ready, I might start eating meat again every once in a while, but I never really have that true craving for meat. I eat a lot of protein though like beans, protein shakes, tofu, and nuts.

I actually want to see what my chicken taste like that I have personally raised myself because to me having that satisfaction of being able to eat something that I supplied by myself is truly amazing. There's no better feeling... I actually ate eggs from my chickens when they first started laying because I wanted to try them and have that satisfaction of raising these chickens to the point of laying.

Yes sir..In the rules of this website, rule #11, I broke it, I apologize to all I offended..

I doubt that you posted with intent; therefore, to my way of thinking no rule was broken.

I tried to not get offended although it seems that everywhere I go I offend someone. Must be the carnivore/omnivore in me.

Are we possibly related ? I have often wondered how many I could tick off if I really tried.

Glad that I was farm born and bred. Gifted with respect for that which we eat and a love for a varied diet. You should try my squirrel sauerbraten.

We hatched and raised 70 happy, healthy chicks this year. About 20 of them are being kept for our flocks and the rest are already in the freezer. I feel proud that we raise all our birds humanely and uncrowded. We no longer need to buy chicken at the store at all. I can barter chicken for other home raised meats.

I doubt we're saving any money, but I know for sure we're eating healthier and it feels good not to support factory farming. The idea that I should feel sorry or rethink my choices is laughable to me. I enjoy meatless meals too and some of my best friends are vegetarian. We do not proselytize to each other.

:goodpost:I can't wait until I have the satisfaction that you have when you go in your freezer and you have meat that you personally did yourself. Congrats on that accomplishment!

I eat meat I really love lobster and most seafood
Always ate store bought meat although my family hunts and raises some of the own meat but for some reason I can't touch it
I just feel bad for some reason even though I know store bought meat isn't as healthy and is raised poorly
I must be a hypocrite lol
