November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Well.. I was right on all the eggs I thought weren't developing.. halfway through, I decided to break them open inside baggies. I took pics lol..

They don't even look fertile, at all. there is no embryo development at all, no blood ring, and the I can see the blasto disc and it does not take a round bullseye shape. I broke open several fertile silkieX eggs so I'm certain I know what fertile looks like. how disappointing :(

at least it wasn't something I did? should I contact the seller? selling ALL infertile eggs, for what I paid for them, I think he should know.. not like there is any way he could have known?

I still have eggs from other breeders in the bator, so all is not lost! (except my $80! LOL!)

edit: doing further research, I thought this link was very useful! maybe someone else will enjoy http://www.natureform.com/kb/index.php

Some eggs take a long time to start developing. I had one that didn't start developing until day 10.

Oh god.. I hope not! I would just die if I had killed them...

I am comparing them to the other eggs I have, and they are all getting very dark and solid looking. By contrast, these looked completely clear and were infertile when opened. Do you have any information or resources on why it would just "not develop" for 10 days?

I just received 16 fertile eggs!!! Cannot wait to put them in the incubator... first time we are trying to hatch chicks!!

Quote: there is....besides the reasons you've already stated....a chance they got damaged by rough handling during transit but also it's that time of year when the roosters aren't as "busy"
unfortunately if you bought them from ebay the best you can hope is that the breeder will send you more if you pay the shipping...you may even ask them to check fertility...some will start incubating their eggs to confirm that they start!

made an oops...the 19th is lock down so they will actually be hatching on the 21st. and i added 1 more egg so there are now 10 button eggs cookin away in the bator and if this boy and girl are anything like their parents i should get some chicks as all of the parents first 14 eggs were all fertile so i should hopefully get a few chicks but i'll wait and see no counting chicks before they hatch here

Lol, I made an oopsie too! My 2013 poultry calendar has the 21st as Thanksgiving. Doctor's office corrected me when making an appointment so no Thanksgiving chick possibilities here...but they should be almost a week old by then:)
