November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

I'm at day 10 of my second hatching - Light Sussex from Papa's poultry. I have 7 out of 10. Good movement, lets hope they can keep it up.

I also have 2 D'uccles from a ebay purchase of 6. I really hope these are hens.

Wish me luck.

How do you pronounce that? I want to say something fancy like due-clay, but I read it as duckle.

It's Dew - kluh. The accent on the "dew" and "kluh" is clipped and short, if you're pronouncing it the french way. It gets Americanized to Dew-Clay though too so you could say it that way.

I am getting close to lockdown and having my regularly scheduled freak out... okay, I'm only freaking out a little this time.. but always on day 17 or 18. Are the air cells too big... are they too small... I just don't know!! I loose perspective for about a day and then usually recover before hatch. My humidity was pretty low this round and even this last week the air cells all seemed really small, now all of a sudden they are much bigger. I am sure they'll be fine...

3 of 9 ducks hatched! All have pips. One is working on unzipping!
Congrats that's awesome! Don't forget pictures :)

Lol I wonder if people who incubate have higher blood pressure than the rest of the populace?

My humidity was fine the entire time, but we had to help 2 of the ducks because they shrink wrapped. That was nerve wracking. We unzipped for them then pulled the inner men brain a little off from them and put a little warm water on the membrane and popped them back in the bator. They both pushed themselves the rest of the way out and are lifting their heads and walking around just fine. I'm breathing a sigh of relief. I have the same freak out about the same time lol
