NY chicken lover!!!!

Stony, the camper looks wonderful. I bet you met lots of envious fellow campers! You will never wake up to a wet floor and sleepingbag.

My chickens are not laying so much all of a sudden. Saturday no eggs. Sunday 3. But the BR is finally giving up on motherhood for this year. Since she doesn't protect her nest, forgets which eggs she is hatching and is only tough on the youngsters, it is a good choice. Mama continues on with her eggs, for now.

Chris, I saw your new, former outhouse top coop as I drove by, looks great and very sturdy.

Good Morning!!

Woke up this morning and decided I'm leaving the chickens in the coop all day today. I said I was going to do it the other day, then I heard the chicken song, went up to the coop to check for eggs and one of them flew out on me. So I let them all out after that. Today they're staying in there to see if I get an egg. I have to rule out the possibility that they are laying somewhere else. If I get an egg, I'll start looking around the yard. I just have no idea where else they'd go other than under the porch to lay them. I've looked there already and nothing. (Well, from what I can see with a flash light anyway) I just have to get my butt up to the coop and put food and water in there for them. I've been keeping that stuff out of the coop to help keep it stay cleaner longer.

Stony ~ The Vardo looks great! I agree with Glass with having lots of envious fellow campers. Must be turning heads trailing that thing around! It's beautiful.

Nutty ~ Sounds like you're starting quite the farm over there!

You should have stopped in and said hi.

Stony, the camper is awesome.

I never thought my frizzles could have a bad hair day but yesterdays humidity did in my poor black cockeral. He looked so tiny with his feathers all flat :-(

just got back from camping in the Vardo. Already planning our next trip.
That is awesome!

Awww your poor frizzy had a bad hair day. Lynzi I hope you can figure it out. So I'm getting a bit jealous everyone is getting ducks except me :-( next year hopefully. I want build a hoop coop for them too. So my sunflowers are 4-6ft and no flowers they were planted in April. Though I'm proud I did it from seeds. though it likes any day now I should a blossom. I picked more beans from the garden and made dinner along with a tomato and herbs. So now that I have some experience and knowledge about growing fruits and veggies I'm expanding my garden and will be using raised beds. My pumpkins, squash, cantaloupe, and apples look good. I'm hoping my peaches do well. My wild garden is super awesome I'm going to fence off another one and put my little table and chair in it so I can drink my Guinness in peace, no animals no child, and most definitely no boyfriends! Well more cleaning, and homework have a great day!

Morning all. Spent yesterday cleaning with breaks in between crotcheting. Got a carload packed up to take to the local mission before work this morning. Rained all day yesterday. The neighbor did come down with her grandkids to get eggs and look at the chickens. They liked the babys and walked all around the terrorists coop. They were all out freeranging so they were keeping their distance from the strangers. Roger is keeping his distance from me now. I guess I made an impression. I spoke to him this morning but made no attempt to pet him like I did with the others. He stayed back until I closed the door, then ran out the pop door. Lesson learned I guess.

Stony--love that camper. Take a pic of the inside please!

Lynzi--good luck with the lockdown. Hopefully you will solve the mystery of the missing eggs.

Off to work again. And of course its nice out. Sigh.

Cass--I'm going to run the duck idea by DH. He's not thrilled with ducks. The pekins are fun to watch and nice when out free ranging, but sloppy during winter in barn. I'm going to host another get together next summer. I just have to decide a date. I'm thinking a Saturday. The vacation list doesn't start going around until September or October at work.
