Duh! I forgot about him except for pigeons. Thanks!!!

Sold 3 of the Dominique boys today -- the straight combed one & two that I wasn't crazy about their combs.

Tab's chicken obsession :

I haven't had a chance to be on much lately and I'm feeling the BYC withdrawal.

Had our third hatch of the year this week, resulting in lots of new babies. And loaded the bator right back up again this morning. I love my poofy butts.

I've been in a crafty mood lately which doesn't work out so well with 2 small energetic girls that are all fingers.

Welcome to all the new BYCers.

Congrats on all the new and upcoming babies.

Ahem! How did the hatch go with the eggs you got from me? Lots of cute EE babies?

Well went to the show. It was bantam though there were some large birds. Not sure why they were there. Just a few, maybe 10. Some RIR's and a nice BR rooster.

Of the show birds I bet 25% were silkies. I have no idea what anyone sees in them. Bunch of sissies. Not enough testosterone for manly birds I guess. I like silkies less and less. Even the OE's are manly in my op. Not to mention there are alot of other breeds in both LF and Bantam. There were a few Wyandottes black, white. Even these are better than silkies. IMO folks like silkies cuz they are easier for show. Try a Columbian Rock and see how it goes? Yes they come in bantam too and there were Barred, white and penciled.

There were two frizzles and four or five Call ducks. I have to admit the whites were cute.

No eggs forsale except rirs'. They had bantam lav. amer eggs in the silent auction but I'm not into those either so I only bid half heartedly and didn't win. Not a big deal.

Live birds for sale but hard to hide in my carry on so I wasn't buying.

Didn't get a chance to talk to Claudia in depth. She was busy with all her friends in the show biz. She said she'd introduce me to some judges last time I was down but that never happened to my disappointment. Sometimes things never go as we expect. Such is life.

I don't find show folks to friendly really. Guess they are territorial and worried they might say something and get beat by a newbie. Even when I showed cavies they weren't to friendly. That's why I don't show.

Bet folks were tired too. We had a tornado scare last night. 7 folks got killed and I haven't seen the damage report on the news. So I expect they were up late and then had to drive early in the morning. One person did mention she was tired having to leave at 6 am.

Me, I wasn't worried, perhaps due to the fact that I just don't have the sense to be. Guess the tornado stuff is why there's a church on every corner. (sorry there goes my sense of humor again).

So that's my report on the show. Glad it wasn't the only reason I came down here.

HEY MODERATORS!!!

Did you know that Backyardchickens.com was meantioned in a blurb in a publication put out by Heifer International? (HI supports and starts subsistance farming through organic methods throughout the world in areas where food and money is scarce. If you have never read anything about how they "do things" google them ...it's worth your time.)

I was reading along and right under the article about changing the food supply in your town was a blurb about having your own chickens and it stated that a wonderful (good) place to get information and support on raising your own chickens was right HERE!!!

You're famous!!!! Congratulations

12 Silver Am. from Pips & Peeps, 5 OE, 4 BLRW, 5 BLRO project, 2 Andalusian projects from our stock, 4 Buff EE, 3 Lav/NH EE, 2 Black EE. Also got some of Sue's BLRW that Tab has been wanting. Had to use the OLD incubator that we had found for the overflow of eggs. We didn't have a great hatch rate out of it. Can't wait to have my fridgeabator ready for the next large hatch we have, don't want to have to use the old one again.

I'm pretty excited about the incoming chicks

DH is getting really good at chicken math, now he's thinking a couple dozen hens sound about right. There are two of us, and two dogs.

This forum is so helpful for me, I am a compulsive researcher, so...
