NY chicken lover!!!!

Oh I am going to do more than one hatch got eggs in the incubator right now and hubby already got me chicks from tractor supply but I also suck at chicken Math and have Morehens disease so when I see those little babies they do come home with me

Curious what happens if no one buys them - do they just keep marking them down until someone takes them? Never saw such big 'chicks' in a TSC before so I guess it was too cold for anyone to want the poor things. I don't do ducks, so I wasn't tempted - but hopefully someone else will be! :)

You would think that they would send them to a store that IS selling birds.....but then common sense isn't as common as you would think.

Speaking of ducks. Someone hit and killed one of my duck hens this morning. Didn't even stop and say "sorry". I am sooooo sad.

And the other female duck looks so lonely swimming out on the pond by herself.

I called the police and told them they need to slow these idiots down. There was a REASON we were granted a lowering of the speed limit on this road, now they need to enforce it.

Cass so sorry about your duck. I hope they start enforcing the lowered speed limit.

Oh ! So sorry about the Duck ...

My road is supposed to be 35mph and people zip along it at 50 ...

Poor duck.

Well - off to get some yard clean up done and enjoy the sun !

I think it may be a Winter Wren...

most other wrens had barring ...mine are just plain brown

Maybe you can get a pic of your "tennants" this spring / summer, Gramma. And we can try to clinch the I.D. for you!

The bluebirds are still negotiating about the houses. It's lovely to see them swooping around with their beautiful blueness. Can you tell I have never had bluebirds in my yard before?

Lots of "swooping" might be Tree Swallows (they are a stunning blue and white). They will readily use bluebird boxes. We have a pair that fledged their young 2 years ago and then returned last summer. Hopefully, they'll be back. If you've got Bluebirds setting up in your boxes, lucky you. Mine never seem to stick around, though they are here now, singing their pretty song and eating bugs off the trees.

I haven't seen any this year yet but I still have snow out there I usually always see them though so I am sure they will be back

Some will stay around through the winter, just like robins.

Cass, this is a shame -- I'm sorry!!

What a gorgeous day it's been! We dropped a large tree down in the bottom end. We were watched by 'Tripod' the deer. She was shot last winter and uses only 3 legs now. She has become relatively tame with us, we can approach within 20 feet or so. She has adopted our tall pasture as her home - I must try and get some good pix of her. Even the dogs have stopped barking at her now...

The girls were out digging up worms, sun bathing etc. they donated 7 eggs today. That seems to be a fairly constant number - not bad from 10 hens. Is it too cold/early to put 4 week old chicks outside in the sun for a few hours tomorrow?? The weather is going to be in the 70s' tomorrow (allegedly). Off to get some supper, see y'all later,

Well, Its a beautiful day today. Spent the morning cooking lasagna & a cheesecake for my sons birthday. Next week he is moving to Arizona, so its most likely it will be the last birthday dinner I make for him....

My tradition is make everyone a birthday dinner with their favorite foods. To make it worse, he has a 9 month daughter that will most likely not even know us hardly...Yes, I'm upset over it...

Then with my 5 year old granddaughter, we cleaned out the patio, washed up the furniture, planted tomatoes & pepper seeds I saved from last year, and I am tired!!! Sat on the patio swing with her, talked about stuff, had a glass of wine, and am now waiting for everyone to come for dinner. I'm tired!

Hope everyone had a good day.
