Yeah! Im a gramma! Beautiful chick Lynzi! I knew Blossom would throw you some nice babies! Hot and humid when I got home last night. Made doing chores miserable. I ordered some poulty cell and am using it in everyones water to see if it helps them with their molting and overall general health. Im only on day 2 so its too early to tell. I have been reading about in on another site. Figured it was worth a try, especially for my layers. The boys were only semi obnoxious last night. I told them to enjoy the last 3 days of their lives. Bought canning jars yesterday. Have to haul out my canner tonight and get things prepped for thursday. I will move Clyde and the pullets into the terrorists coop thursday night. They are almost as big as those girls anyways so its time. It will be interesting to see how the monsters are once the brats are in the other coop. I will also get an accurate count as to how many roos and pullets there are. Its time to change the leg bands on the older heritage rirs anyways.

Stay cool everone.

I want an audio monitor that the "baby" or receiving part (chicken coop) is fully battery powered.

I am looking at baby monitors now - and from the pictures it looks like the part part (inside house) is the one that is battery operated and the part in the nursery is plugged in. Totally opposite of what I need.

I want to be able to hear any ruckus in the coop over the hum of the air conditioners !!

Anyone here have good model suggestions ? Cheaper the better - I just need to HEAR what is going on - so I can rush out if I am needed.

Metella, why not use it the way you are already set up for, I am sure the birds would like to hear you! Every so often you could admonish them to behave, they would probably be soothed by the contact they would have with you...:)

Sorry, just couldn't resist.

I will get a pictures in a bit.. Its not the easiest chick to catch.. Its fast, fiesty and small! Other than the prominent red comb/wattles nothing else on it stands out "cockerel" other than its been really slow to get fully feathered. Its small and scrawny compared to its flock mates. Thank you for your help.

Glasshen - they just ignore me unless I have a feed scoop anyway. ha ha

I don't have a monitor right now - the one I had burned up with the barn over a year ago -so I'll be purchasing anew ....

Disappointment day 2...
I do believe one of my EE's is also a ROO!!
After doing some research on young chick and what to watch for.. This EE is showing all the signs.. I bought these chicks as sexed pullets!!
This chick is already got a longer tail set curling down, showing lots of red feathering on its shoulders.. Ack!! Pictures to follow in a bit to get opinions..
Im going to wait a few weeks longer to see how they progress.. If they do end up being roo's. i will be looking for homes for them.
I would prefer they went were they would stay pets but I know that cant always be the case.

Still have the lav orps. I will separate. Hens are laying daily. $25 each. All are less than 2 years old. Buy 4, get roo free.

I just have too many birds....
