NY chicken lover!!!!

I have introduced a new bunch every year, have not seen any eggs yet from this sumeeres babies. There were five of them, and two art sporting long tail feathers and are very large. No crowing from them, but I expect it soon. My oldest two are four years old, The Orpingtons and SS are only a year and a half...so I really think they should be able to give me some eggs. Seven others are two and a half. Maybe things will pick up with the last four who are molting getting all their feathers, and the added light.

Anyone have any experience with white face black spanish? I'm thinking of getting five white face WHITE spanish from sandhill to finish out my order. Ive read spanish lost their hardiness when they started breeding them for show, concentrating on the white face. Anyone ever have these birds in our NY winters?

you want to get sick, just go to the doctors office or a nice visit with the runny nosed grandkids ..lol

lots of rest and lots of OJ...

i can remember as a kid mom lined us all 8 of us up in the kitchen in the fall and spring and gave us all a big old spoonful of some terrible stuff she said would keep us from gettimng sick or it would knock the winter out of us ..not sure it worked , because i still remember building a tent in the livingroom out of blankets and her running the vaperiser in to it ..lol

hope you guys feel better soon rancher..maybe you guys need a tent in the livingroom out of blankets..lol

Dont you know it ...we were never sick till we had kids ..they always brought home lovely germs to us ...
they didnt get me with chick pocks though ...I had that as a kid

I used to get sick a lot when I delivered mail. After I retired it's been rare. My GD started preschool this year and got sick the first week. I really need to wash my hands more often and wipe this keyboard down each time. Vitamin D sounds good. I'll get some.

As soon as I'm 100% I'm getting that flu shot.

Handwashing, Vitamin D, teach the Grand kids to wash their hands too. And if you catch something anyway, Chicken Soup! I think that with the time your DW has been having, perhaps more phone visits with the grands and less face to face.

It seems like some one should be contributing
I would check the calcium percentage ?
Are you adding a lot of water to the fermented mix ? As I think it can dilute the calcuim some ...
Or are you stirring it well so ..calcuim isnt settling in the bottom ?
I found one time I wasnt stirring it enough & there was sludge on the bottom .
I add a little Oyster shell in the ferment mix as I think some chickens just need that little extra ..

Our chickens have mostly quit laying. Was getting 10-13 eggs this summer daily. Now we get 4-6 daily. My summer chicks also have not started up; all red and ready but no eggs.

Mine aren't laying either, except I did get one egg yesterday from the egg layer coop so somebody's picked back up laying. I'm also getting some eggs from the cemani girls but of course I'm not eating those. They get popped into the incubator to work on my fibro NN project. If my NN rooster would actually learn to mate that would be great. Silly teenagers.
