NY chicken lover!!!!

i am not sure that farmer still uses that tunnel but i no its still there ..lol

yeah i built my tractor to big , 8x16 and i made it out of 2x4's so it was very heavy ..i used 3 times before i said enough ..the birds wouldnt come to the door so i could put them back in to the coop at night ..i only have sm property ..about an acre and most of that is wet and or wooded..i wished i had made it ligher..anyways its gone now ..but i like the fence tunnel idea ..

nuttyfrom6kids thats sounds like a great business idea..congrats and good luck..oh and the new family member sounds real handsum..

with a heavy heart i tell you all this.
my daughter called last night , she told us they were at her boy freinds moms house out in maplesprings ..shes an emt and her boyfriends sister has chickens and was part of the reason i have birds now ..anyhow they heard a big crash outside .they went out to find the grandfgather and uncle hit by a car and killed both of them ..so i ask for all your preys for the family ..its never easy to loose someone and to loose 2 at christmas time has got to be harder ..my daughter said there was nothing they could do ..they tried cpr for along time ..it was right out in front of the maple springs fire hall ..the whole family are involved with the fire departments around the county ..

I am so sorry for your loss. Lord have mercy.

DW is doing well. Wound almost healed. Radiation next month we think.

Gave a way 3 B. Rocks today and considering others. Hope to keep the Dels, C. rocks and Marans. Luv.. took the B. Rocks. She's really nice. Was she at the picnic? If not maybe next year.

I've got one C. Rock roo that won't roost. They're the biggest and I think need to be not so high up. I'll be moving the roosts lower for them.

Things are still a trial. Hoping next year will be much much better.
Yes I went last year. And thanks again for the girls. Love them.

Pharm, You still write a super "story". Floyd hatched 5 out of 6 in the Brinea and 6 out of 7 .,,
April 5 and May 6. We got 2 Roosters....they are DARK BLUE. We now have 21 Silkies ...3 Roosters.

Have been getting 2 to 3 eggs daily. We are feeding them Agway 21% protein....and a little scratch. Apple peels, carrott peels and they love they leftover pasta and beans and from Christmas we have a Pumperknickle Bread with that dip someone brought. There was a little dip left and they loved it and now are picking on the bread. Hope that is ok>?

Have a healthy upcoming year. Regards, Aria

Been pretty busy the last few weeks. Adding to my flocks.

The first additions were Why do Birds babies. After much discussion, we decided that they would work well here. With them being handled so much they were an early Christmas present for my kids. Well mostly for my daughter. She is in love with Fredo the rooster. They are adjusting to being outside birds. They are still very timid and won't leave their little area unless the coast is clear and no other chicken are in sight. Then they have the fence up Fredo acts like a tough man, but when he is face to face he runs away and tries to hide. He is funny. It is going to be getting pretty cold this week so I have added extra straw to their little coop. They seem to be adjusting well and we love having them.

Then this week we added more. On Monday we brought home some more ducks!!! My Magpies are hard to find. They aren't as popular as some other breeds. Why I don't know, They are great dual purpose ducks. I have yet to eat them, but they are some meaty ducks. When I get my hands on them they are nice and heavy...But anyway I love them!!! I added more blue Magpies 2 drakes and on little lonely girl. I have a few to many drakes so I will need to find them new homes one way or another.

Then Today I went to meet Rancher and picked up 3 of his Barred Rock hens. Love them. They are some big girls. They are a little bigger then my other big girls.

And I swear that this is it for the rest of the year!
I swear!

Luv---glad to see that the newbies are adjusting well. They will get used to the cold.

Aria--Ive got the itch real bad to fire up my brinsea but Im being good and holding off. Sounds like you have your hands full and they are eating very well! I just finished throwing all the christmas leftovers off the kitchen porch for the terrorists. They hit the jackpot today and hung around the porch until it was bedtime! Yes, the silkies got goodies too. Eowyn tends to be very vocal with her demands for treats, out and out to freerange. No wonder poor Legolas doesnt mind when I take him away for a bit to do his nails and such. Probably the only peace and quiet he gets!

I suppose everyone has been busy. Havent seen too many of the regulars on lately but its nice to see a few newbies! I know our crazy retail period is finally coming to an end but pharm world is getting busy for the new insurance season. Let the games begin!

Just realized tomorrow is new years eve and Im closing the coffee shop. I hope its dead so I get out of there and home before all the drunk people hit the road. I celebrate the new year from the back side of my eyelids. At my age, its the best I can do!

Ta for now. Hoping to be on more often now. Hatching season is coming!!!!

Well, the cemanis are early hatchers apparently. I had two purebreds hatch two days early, and my cross that I set for the NYD hatch a long hatched this afternoon! Go figure. Pictures to come because they are all so adorable. I'm so excited about one of the cemanis. It is so perfectly black. I still have to check the tongue, but if everything else is a good indication, it will be black or at least gray. Definitely a keeper.
