NY chicken lover!!!!

Right now I have one Cream Legbar, born this July, who hasn't started laying. Do Legbars or Ameracuanas have bluer eggs? I want to get some more blue-egg layers this spring or hatch some (LOVING my HovaBator 1588 w/automatic turner! Day 5 of my first hatching experiment--37 eggs--for my 37th birthday that just passed!!)

Anyone within an hour of Albany that will have large, blue egg layers? A friend of mine has blue eggs but they are TINY compared to the white and brown eggs.

I rather think blue egg layers do lay smaller eggs. A large but not much bigger. Easter Eggers might if crossed with a large egg breed.

Hi everyone! How is everyone doing with the snow? We got snow, and now it's raining on top of it. Understandably, the chickens are not pleased. I haven't seen them venture out of the coop at all except to eat and drink quickly before going back inside. The legbars are growing like weeds, and I just set some quail, so I'll have new layers by March. I've sworn not to set another egg till spring, which means I better start selling the cemani cross eggs to reduce the temptation, lol.

No Snow in syracuse Area today ..Sleet freezing Rain Yesterday..( chickens were Drenched )( Mine go out no matter what weather it is .) last night ...turned to rain ...almost everything was melted ..had to look hard to find any snow this morning
Here it is coming ..

Definitely getting snow where I am at tonight got home from work before it got really bad. I have decided that for my flock I am focusing on orpingtons and Cochins love those fat fluff balls will have lots of general egg layers but these are going to be my projects.

New business is going great so far I keep coming up with all sorts of new ideas. I am getting ready to start ordering chicks and some poultry supplies any requests?

Hey all - not sure what is a rumor - what is not ...

So just putting this out there - heard chickenstock may be in NH this year but the host can't do it now ....

I live just over the border in VT - so closer than NH - and I have the room if no one else is slated as host .... so whoever sets this - let me know .....

So.....my drive to work was 55F, sunny, with a double rainbow, green grass on the fields. The ride home 6 hours later was snow squalls, 30F and the wind howling like a banshee - ahhh! NY weather!

Metella - would love to come visit with you for chickenstock!

I believe it was planned at @sonew (April's) place, somewhere up north. Tab and Travis would know for sure.

I've heard a few different things about where - so I'm perfectly glad to have anyone else hold it !!!!

Just,, I do have the room - but I always figured I was too far away for most - so didn't speak up until I heard a NH place had fallen through.

So more than fine with me if Sonew can do it ! I did send Tab a PM - but she is not on often ... so still waiting for a reply

Well now if you come this way and want to deliver a load of layer feed then I might be interested. Would you like to PM me with a price? You're about an hour away from me.

I'm at a quandary in deciding what to do. DW will be retiring and we're talking trips south for a month or two. Who to take care of the chickens while we're away. I can't see not having ANY chickens, but I'll still need someone here to care for them.

Well now, I 'm not sure we'll be here. Depends on time of year. Going south in May for the arrival of my GD. I haven't heard any rumors, so don't know who is making them. Perhaps it's time to put up a thread so folks can conversate. This is our annual Picnic? right? Would you like to start the thread for this year? Titled NY chicken picnic or stock?

Or are you talking something else? I'm not up to going to other states, for a chicken stock. It would mean an overnight trip. I'm too old for a drive that far in a day.

If I did something like that, I'd have gone to the ALBC conference or the Mother Earth Fair.
