NY chicken lover!!!!

A day of firsts! I sold my first four pears today (I ate several at lunch too!) and I also sold my first dozen eggs. (My mother in law has been taking some, but she wasn't a paying customer)

Also had one of my young Barred Rocks lay! YAY!

Hello all,
I'm from the huge metropolis of Potter, NY - pop. 1865!! We have 15 acres mixed woodland/wetlands. Although I work part-time, we are trying our hardest to be homesteaders and grow what we need. We currently have only 8 hens - RIR, Welsummers, Delaware whites & 1 Dominique. My girls are spoilt, but they repay with eggs and laughs. Going to be getting more hens next year, so am currently extending the housing.
Anyone live nearby?? Love to hear from anyone in the area, Sue

Welcome ! Thank you for introducing yourself & your chickens I am in jordan ..Between baldwinsville & auburn ..I have 20 ages 4 months to 2 years ..
I think the closest one to you is chick princess in Canandaigua

Hey guys, here's a random question, but does anyone know what guinea poop is supposed to look like? I asked in the guinea forum a few days ago but I have received no answers. Their poop just looks really pasty and I'm concerned they may have worms. I'm gonna worm the whole flock with Eprinex and I was going to get them too, but I don't know if I can (I asked that there too and got no answers).

I guess no ones a Professor of poop ...would they admit it ?

By pasty do you mean white ?
If you think they have worms ....there should be worms in the poop ..
It sounds like a yeast infection to me have they got in moldy food ? give then some yougurt that will correct their unbalance ..
Heres a poo link if you are interested in browsing

boskelli1571 welcome
Tab glad you found your dog sorry you had to stay home but rest up that little girl will be here soon.

By the sound of it I am glad I didn't go to the fair to see the chickens I would have been disappointed. Things are starting to settle down around here tomorrow I have to move some teeny boppers into the grow out pen they get big so fast. I have a bunch that should be laying any day now so soon will have more eggs than I know what to do with . Hubby is really getting into the chickens he was ok with them in the beginning cause they gave him eggs now he is looking at chickens on his laptop and telling me what ones he wants and is planning what to grow in the garden next year for the chickens. So am thinking he must of got bit by that morehens disease

Not white, but just kind of a thick paste. If you're familiar with ducks think duck poop after they just were drinking tons of water. I don't think they've gotten into moldy food but I'll give them some yogurt. Couldn't hurt! I'm also going to worm them because they don't HAVE to have worms in their poop if they have them. They actually start dropping worms like that only when their worm load is really high, from what I understand. Worming couldn't hurt either. I'll just have to see if they improve. It might be worth noting that their poop absolutely reeks. It's awful. I'm pretty sure it's a side effect of whatever they have going on. But other than the weird poop, they act fine.
