I have met Rancher and he is really real and very nice!  He for sure doesn't live in Siberia...(I have been to his house)...It is sad that he won't be able to make it again, but family comes first..And I don't blame him... ..There is always next year

There is a new store, near Great Northern Mall, called Runnings. It is open and has Chick Days. Tried to go last weekend, but it wasn't open yet. Has anyone been?

Home, Farm and Outdoor Retailer Employing 80 New Workers in the Community​

Clay, New York – March 26, 2015 – Runnings, Your Home, Farm and Outdoor Store, announced today that the company will continue its expansion into the Northeast, opening an additional store in Clay, New York. The store will open the second week of April and will employ approximately 80 team members. The store hours will be 7:30am-9pm Monday-Friday, 7:30am-7pm on Saturdays and 9am-6pm on Sundays.

I just called Runnings and they said they are sold out of chicks They said they will not be getting any more for 2 weeks. They are having their grand opening May 13-17:

The store will hold a grand opening event May 13-17, which will include $50,000 in giveaways, hot air balloon rides, an in-store appearance from Andre Reed, Former Buffalo Bills and Pro Football Hall of Fame and much more

Not for caponing, waiting over a year to pick biggest for breeding, I'll have to wait until hatching for capons. Yeah they must be young.
I heard you can practice on roosters you butcher, after they are dispatched of course, just to get a better idea of what your getting into, and everything is bigger and easier.

That makes more sense with the jerseys, great plan. Please keep us posted. Good idea to practice on recently dispatched roos.

I was naughty and bought silkies at TSC. Not nearly good quality like the others I have from breeders - I only bought them because TSC silkies are practically large fowl, and I'd like some big fluffy broodies running around. One has a single comb, and that tells you how the quality is on hatchery silkies, lol! Still, they are cute and energetic and will make good mothers. The chicks all moved to the pool brooder today to make room for the silkies.

I will also be needing a nice silkie rooster to put over my sizzles - they all hatched frizzled, and you can't put a frizzle over another frizzle. So if anyone will have a silkie rooster that needs a home, I'd love to take him off your hands at chickenstock. If you have a pair, even better, I'd love to have a hen too.

Really it's okay. I can take a joke. No trouble. I really feel bad about missing chickenstock again since I pushed to have one. Things don't always work out.

I hope this new grandchild is cute cuz I would hate to have missed chickenstock for an ugly baby. This is my sisters baby. He came out with a bag on his head.

Hope that everyone's snow is melting and not causing to much flooding. The river in my chicken run has stopped flowing for now. I am working on cleaning and moving things around. I moved Fredo and his girls over to the other side of the run. Where they are now they will get much more sun and they have lots more room. I give them time to go out in the big run, but they have very little interest in leaving their area. The silkie "Beak a Poo" only leaves the coop to eat and drink, then goes right back in. I don't get her at all. I keep her puff trimmed thinking that maybe she doesn't venture out more cause she couldn't see, but I don't know what her problem is now. I figure it stems from being an indoor bird for so long.

Trying to figure out who is staying, who is going to be in the pot, who is getting sold, and what is coming in. Lots of movement this year... I have a few that I know that I will be selling this year. I have a pair of silver laced cochin bantams that I will be available as well as my frizzled sizzle rooster Curly. If anyone is interested let me know.

I have some Magpie eggs in the incubator that are at day 20..8ish more days to go...Getting very excited. I would love if they would all hatch, but then who doesn't want all there eggs to hatch. May still run out to Nature Berry to check out their Magpies that should be coming next weekend. DH even volunteered to drive me out there!

I couldn't believe my ears! May just take him up on the offer. They are supposed to be getting in "Asst Polish Pullets" too so might be tempted in to a few of those Would have to check out all that they still have. You never know what you can't do without till you get there.
