I dont leave the food in there with them . The First thing I do when I go out is I open up the hen house ...take all the broodys out ...for RRMore broody questions...
I've never done this before...lol.
I know somebody here once said that they put food and water in with their broodies. I brought her a small cup of water and she eagerly drank from it. She also eagerly ate the food I put up there. Course...putting food in there meant other hens decided THEY wanted to be in there, too.
You have a ton of eggs on the go .... you don't happen to have a stray Buckeye hatching out? I am sure the last two came out early - so I think they may as a whole been 1 or 2 days behind the 21 day count .... so hoping some are mixed up with other hatches ! Was told these birds have a pretty high hatch rate .... so just hopeful.
I'm sure if the Cemani is so close to hatch you can nurse it through ...
All my remaining eggs are either d'uccles, guineas, or labeled as to what they are. It seemed to be doing okay after the crack, still moving and no bleeding, so fingers crossed.

yep one died the first night - it still had egg on its chest - so I think it hatched too early. the other small one also had egg on its chest - but it perked up after the first day.
I knew the one was poor ... I was debating dropping feeding it - but all that get that attention seem to die anyway ....
so 5 of them now with one being a runt ! Will see if she gets a growth spurt and catches up with the others ....![]()
They all hatched naturally with no intervention, so it's really a shame that that happened
