Speaking of silkies.... are you ok with a white cockerel? He's really pretty, but I can't show him -- what I thought was an extra toenail is an entire toe! The splash & white girls can go now too. And babies.
smile.png
I can't remember which other boy you were getting -- thought it was the light blue.

It was supposed to be a splash cockerel with one white and one blue pullet...but I will take a splash pullet too instead of the oh to heck with it..just let me know when to come over!!

Hey -- I was sick, had a fever & was probably delirious! I don't have a clue! LOL!!!

Later this afternoon works for me. Want just the adults or babies too?

I am in Suffolk County... Islip area

You're not terribly far from me actually. About 1 1/4 hrs. So what are ya raising in Islip?
I've got a mix of Buff Orpingtons, Wheaten Marans, Wheaten Americauna/Marans mixes, and a Jersey Black Giant, Dominque, EE, and a cuckoo marans. I love the gals and am enjoying the colorful mix of eggs.

Well right now I am kinda in between chickens..growing up I always have had between 7-10 large chickens, and my dads favorite is the Mille Fleur d'Uccle, so we always a few of those in our flock. We havent really replaced chickens because my parents are retiring and moving, and I will be moving with my boyfriend eventually off the Island, and its just going to be a real pain to move because I have horses so we were trying to keep down the chicken population, but I think over the years of me whinning, my dad this year finally gave me permission to get some chickens going because we have had some loses and then whichever chickens I want will be my responsibility to have to take my chickens with me.

So as of now, I have two Mille year old roosters, and two Mille hens, one and two years old. I have a white cochin hen named princess and that is exactly what she is! and I have a large hen who is a mix but I cant remember what she is it will come to me, but as she gets older she just gets eviler. haha

Princess is sitting currently on 6 eggs, they are either her eggs with some Mille eggs, they should be hatching in about a week. I but 23 eggs in the incubator, dad and I checked them the other night and 14 of them are good and well on their way to hatch. I have about 10 more Mille egg's from a different flock that just went into the incubator the other day. I also have a family friends hen sitting on 3 Jersey Giant eggs that my cousin gave me because she thought I would love them, but they came up from NC so I hope they hatch but we shall see in about a week as well! fingers crossed.

My plan with some extra Mille's is maybe do some trades, I am thinking about going to some of the Swap Meets, but I work at a tax office full time during tax season so I dont have that much time to look around and stuff.

So that basically is what I can sum up on my lunch break lol!

Nice!

I'm glad you're getting more Chickies! I find that everytime I say I'm going to have less and do - I end up with more a couple weeks later!

Moving South is what Happy and I were talking about ourselves last night - since it will be near the Mtns of NC it will be much cooler than the Coast. So I'll basically have the Coast a couple hours away with family and live near the Mtns. Best of both worlds if you're in the South.

No new Silkies yet! I saw some at TSC and almost got them. The eggs I have coming from two different sources will contain Silkie Eggs. I ebayed and got some from SylverFire which should be here tomorrow and then Banjoejoe at Vilamil farms I got one of his Auctions which is chock full of all kinds of birds including the evil Silkies. I also got some Blue/Red Cochins I think it was coming from SylvreFiler and some Blue Jersey Giants. Way too excited. I should have Banjoejoe's fifty plus eggs probably by Saturday.

I went out and broke down and bought an egg turner finally!

I've been hand turning all this time and I do a pretty good job turning but I think this will improve my hatch rate since the eggs are slowly turned and in a more upright position without being jarred or disturbed.

I love the Mille Fleur D'Uccles! They are just the prettiest things! I think I saw three of them today in the Bantam pen at TSC today but I didn't get them since they only had the three and no other bantams. I think I'll have my hands full with the others anyway.

Rancher: You should see my Delaware Giants! Those little babies are growing like crazy and they are so happy to be outside! They are just the cutest and friendliest things! The Black Jersey Giants run like I'm Godzilla when I go out to the pen. The older birds are still doing really well with them and I think tomorrow I'll add my little Blue Splash LF Cochin along with the Blue Splash Maran baby (???) and a couple of my GL Wyandottes that have feathered out nicely.

Has anyone heard that we may be around 72 degrees here by Monday???? - Whooo hooo!

I'm envious of all you gals and your broody's are sit'n on eggs. My broodies don't seem to be ready just yet. When they are I'll be getting a few for each and playing God once again. hmmmm.... I'm gonna get those Icelandic chickens - they lay white eggs. Forgot their name, think it begins with a J. anyway they're winter hardy and friendly. That's what I like.

. Well of course...what are bff chicken friends for! Putting the cr's in the bator today along with a couple more slw's.....may have to get another bator for lockdown..one ain't gonna be enough! Lol

Silkies...hmmmm...*sighs*....pretty....

I don't use a second incu for hatching. I tried it once and things did not go well, so I said forget it. Just don't mix up those CR's and get over here when I get back to help build their hoop coop..

*salutes and clicks heels* Aye Aye Captain! LOL

Had to mark everything down on paper....oy vey! This is the last time we r setting so many eggs on different days!!

OK -- Splash Rooster, Splash pullet, Blue hen, White hen & White cockerel.

Glad you like them!

They love baths, blowdries & pedicures! Would fit perfectly in your purse -- you could have a silkies to go!

I think Tim may be immune!

Fyre - Thunderpaws - I love it!

Looking forward to that warm weather this weekend. Gettin some work done.

Everyone else - your tinfoil hats aren't working very well. I think the Silkies have amplified thier mind control with tinfoil. They want us all to succum to their cuteness.

Sterling Center Farm - so impressed by your BLRW Chickens. Prettiest ones I've seen.

Fyre - thanks for the pep talk and virtual coffee.

Anytime there Chicklette! Glad UR feeling better.

I think a dark gray Silkie would look great in a dark red nail polish, a metallic silver soft sided bag and maybe a small grey satin ribbon to match. Remember, my husband said to me the other day that Silkies are the purse dog of the chicken world! Now the Calicos and Buffs truly need the metallic blues for their nails.....wait, what oh I must be hearing mumbles now....she says she wants to play with the babies. OML, take off the tin foil hats and run for your lives!!!!!
