9 week old Aussies dust bathing with the boss lady, Coco, a 2 year old BCM. Easiest integration ever!😊View attachment 3364153
Happy New Year Everyone!🥰🥳
That's so cute, and how she's so relaxed with them! I haven't tried integration with my chicks yet but it's probably something I need to get to.
Happy New year!

My chicks have been doing well. I did a size comparison with their “uncle” today, and although he’s small, they were almost all his height. Not as bulky, i’ll clarify, but nearly as tall as him.
So I decided they could spend some time with the adults. They appreciated the space, harassed a laying hen, got bullied some, but seemed okay. I may set them back in their own pen tomorrow or tonight if they aren’t roosting.

Also.. my bantam turned blue, and into a boy. I’m baffled at the blue, because he’s looked super black until now, and i’m just disappointed he’s male.
Note- the crossbeak rooster is their “uncle”. All chicks are healthy and have normal beaks.

They are growing and lookin happy!!! I'm amazed at how some of em can change colors so much as they grow out!

And one of the boys in Camp Cockerel made a credible attempt at crowing this morning.

Those first crowing efforts are so cute!
They sure are...except when they try to practice after the dingbat that has been crowing all night long!
All 4 of the Buff babies look very similar except a slight darkening of red or brownish feather in crest and tail. There's only one I'm 99% certain is a girl at this point. I'm really praying these other 3 surprise me and only ONE be a dude!!!
It only practices early mornings so not sure which one it is ...yet LOL!

DH and I are weird.

Camp Cockerel is only about 15 feet from my bedroom window and our reaction to a 4:30am "Cock .. er .. aw" is to laugh and go back to sleep.

You see, we're from the mill towns downriver of Pittsburgh and compared to freight trains, airplanes, mill whistles, and all that other industrial noise, roosters are nothing (though I would get rid of a squeaky or irritating voice). My first apartment was only about 100 yards from a busy crossing with 6 tracks. :lau
