First time hatching eggs this month! Very, VERRRRY excited! I'm in Oklahoma but was out in DC for a couple of weeks & happened to get some eggs in Maryland from Patty Nuth of Running Horse Farm (soooo nice & generous) and drove them back with me. Hopefully that means there will be more of a chance.
I just set 26 in my
Brinsea Octagon Eco incubator. 7 spitzenhaubens, 14 mille fleur d'uccles, 1 bantam salmon faverolle, 1 blue polish, 1 buff orpington, and 2 mottled houdans. There are 21 more eggs, mostly dominiques and d'uccles that I will set once my hovabator arrives. (I ordered 10 d'uccles and 7 spitzenhuaben/houdans from her so quickly realized I would need another bator if I wanted to hatch them all!)
So, the other 21 will be set when the hovabator comes and then I just bought some bc marans off
ebay and they should be coming this week. So, I should have 3 hatches this month.
So far, my only fixed hatch date is October 23. I candled the eggs when I arrived home last night but am not sure how they look if they get "scrambled". Does that mean the yolk isn't defined or that it is mostly defined but has a leaky "tail" sticking out from the main orb?
Fingers crossed!!!
