LOL Congratulations Gardengirl!

I am setting first thing on Sunday morning. My Olive Eggers arrived late this afternoon so I am going to let them rest overnight. This will be an interesting group of babies for me!

I was told the other day that my green eggs are very nice and that when people find out I have them, they will be waiting in line. Not her exact words but similar. I knew they where pretty eggs but to hear it from somebody else is nice. Unfortunately, they are very unreliable layers. I'm hoping to hatch out some of their eggs and get better layers. I read that EE's are suppose to lay year round. Well, my EE's need to read the same artical because they aren't aware of this rule. I haven't gotten an egg in 3 days. The last time I did I got 3 in one day. I have 5 hens. All old enough to lay. One is the mother to the other 4 that are last falls chicks. My white one just don't lay eggs. She laid a few in spring and that's been it. I want to get some more eggs out of them but unless they get regular, they are getting sold. Two of them are very friendly and one wants to be a broody hen but not all the time. I thought she did it but 3 days later she changedher mind and wanted to be with her flock. But when she ws let out again she tried to get to her eggs, which I had already put in the bator.

Hey Cathy, come along and join us. I am on day 3, and considering candling but not really sure what I am looking for. I hope you have a great hatch. How's your roo? I named my pullet Fergie after the man I bought her from. So original right. I was just wondering if maybe your new little boy wanted to come spend the night with Aunt Tisha when he is a little bit older and visit my girls. hahaha. What are you gonna name him. It was very nice seeing you again. Did you let him sleep in the house and put Brad out in the coop? I was worried about that when you guys left. haha Poor Poor Brad.
Hope you have a great Sunday, with your new boy.

Got little cheep cheep sounds coming from the bator this morning.

I think todays group is Araucanas. It is always a suprise, will they be tufted? Will they be rumpless? I will probably wait until late tonight, or early tomorrow to open the door and see what we have.

I also have some eggs due to hatch next Sunday, Araucanas, MF D'Uccles, and a couple of Silkies.

I told myself I was done hatching about 2 months ago. We I guess we can all tell that did'nt last long.

I suppose it is time for a brooder readiness drill.

I set 4 eggs under my broody Silkie Oct 1st. 3 Buff Orp/Mille Fleur Cochin Bantam amd 1 Silkie/MFC.
Can I join?
My Silkie hatched a single chick earlier this year, and that was our first hatch. I'm just curious about his "Lockdown" thing... Does it apply to broody mamas too?

I'm in!!!!!!! Set Welsummers, Marans, Olive Eggers and a ton of Delaware eggs yesterday morning and some late last night. Projected hatch date/s is 23-24th.

I stopped hatching the end of March this year........what a long summer without hatching. My DH said he was surprised to see that I made it this long!

Broodies are a one stop shopping center when it comes to hatching.......they do it all! The only problem with broodies is they do not have a window to look through to see what is going on under her.
