Ended Official 2020 BYC Halloween Hatch-Along

i just realized that it’s already october 7th!!! i messaged my shipping address tonight because my eggs are shipping out on Saturday for set on the 13th!!!
I may have spoken too soon thinking my pheasant eggs weren’t good!?! i left them in just in case and they seem to have changed a bit!!

I just have my 2 Muscovy eggs in the incubator growing beautifully. There were 2 more but they both ended up being double yolkers. My chickens and quail have NEVER gifted me with one of those magical eggs. But if my little OEGB hen stays broody I think 2 Muscovy ducklings will be more than enough for her to look after. And if I have to bring them up then 2 ducklings are definitely more than enough to have indoors.

I wish I had checked here before starting my new incubator! 5 days too early XD.
I can only hope a hen will go broody in the next 24 hours lol.

I did name a new 3 day old chick Pumpkin in honor of spooky months though.

Couldn’t find any fertile eggs in the local grocery stores that were less than one month old already! Supply chain issues I’m sure living on an island. Anyway, so I’m going to have to jump off the hatch along and will admire and cheer you all from the sidelines! Good luck with all your eggs!

We got our eggs and I considered holding them for a couple days but in AZ with the humidity as low as it is I was scared to wait. I set them so they will be earlier than the 31st, which is a bummer, but having little chicks that look like gremlins around Halloween is still going to be so cool!

every day I think to myself " I will only choose a few eggs today to hatch" as I gather eggs and sure enough 8 to 12 a day jump on the counter to go into the incubator.... hummm now time to fire up another incubator???

So chicken math applies to fertile eggs as well apparently!
