Ended Official BYC Contest - Post Your Best (Worst) Chicken Molt Pictures - 2021

How about a turkey? We have three girls and they all have their first hard molt at same time.... feathers everywhere!

Turkeys can molt HARD! I have one that molts almost bald every year. Unfortunately, only chickens count in the molt contest though.

Most of my chickens are just 4-5 months old, only have 3 that are older, 2 hens and 1 rooster that are approx. 14 months old, so none have really had their first molt. But all lose a few feathers here an there, especially my young ones, as tthey continue to get new feathers. And with 43 young ones and 3 adults there are feathers everywhere all over their living space (114 square feet) and yard (their area of the yard is approx. 900 square feet), and some of the feathers spill out through the fence onto the sidewalk and driveway, and it's hard to keep up with keeping the areas clean and free of feathers. I can only imagine how much worst it will be when they all have a molt, there be hills of feathers. So I have a question for all here that deal with this problem: how do you clean up all those feathers? I'm thinking of getting a leaf blower with vacuum feature (from Black and Decker), hoping it will make picking up all those lost feathers easier than with a broom.

Here's Lucy,
she's bald all around her waist and some on the vent area.

Looks like my Aurora! I have had her in a feather recovery pen, but she hasn't grown anything back, and it is a flock of about 11, and it contains one rooster, our Buff Brahma. And I think that she is his favorite gal.
