I had no idea I had so much to look forward to. Can anyone tell me why they choose to molt just when it's starting to get chilly?

I am also glad to see these, Id worry it was more than a molt if I hadnt seen these. Wow, I didnt know they lost sooo much!!! My six month olds have some time before there first molt (hopefully) but I'll be prepared now - thanks.

Oh and Kathyinmo.... that last pic is a gem,

My 3 year old frizzle hen,she always goes threw a hard molt.
