the daft part of the most recent incident is that I wasn't even contradicting his viewpoint! ah well... you can lead a fundamentalist (of any religion) to sense but you can't make him think!

as for christmas, it's just a warped version of midwinter anyway, so that's what we'll celebrate. even the biblical evidence (based off where the shepherds were at that time etc) points to the birth of jesus being in spring, so the rabid defence of why I should celebrate on the 25th of december by including Santa makes no sense even to my christian upbringing! I can give christmas up easily, and my fiance has had some pretty traumatic times through his life centred around it, so we'll celebrate the solstice instead because that makes more sense to me. No where in that OR in christianity is Santa an essential part of the festival, and I still think it's NOT cruel to tell my son (when he's born and old enough) that santa is a nice story some people tell their children and we don't tell them differently because that would hurt them but that I didn't think I should lie to him.

the marriage thing - I still say it depends on the maturity of the people involved. I got married at 22 (I think!) and 13 years later there's the divorce - not because I wasn't mature enough when we got married but because I like being allowed an opinion, and he didn't think I should! I know others who got married at 18 and their marriages are still as strong as ever.

wooo it felt good to get that lot out!

anyways.

stars in general make me feel small and insignificant when I look up at them. I find star-gazing is good to put things (like pointless drama) in perspective

WIth our oldest son, we did not do Santa. I did not like the thought of lying to him. When the other children came along, so many friends and family told me how terrible that I was for not doing Santa that I decided to give in. We did Santa for the other three. So, I have mixed feelings about the entire Santa debate. I have never understood why people can't simply accept that different families do different things. What is best for one family, is not best for everyone.

And when you debate in a polite fashion, they will get angry and stomp off.

In the stars I see a butterfly.. Butterflies to me are about transforming yourself into something more beautiful, It can be accepting the beauty inside you or accepting that you are a beautiful on the outside as well... Butterflies have always beena favorite of mine, i feel that the hole process of their lives is about always going one step forward towards true beauty...

Big Hugs form to you...
