I've often wondered about spells. I do not know if I believe in them. I'm not saying I disbelieve, just that I don't believe either.

I remember back when my boys were younger and we were going through some stressful times as a family, over the course of a few weeks the boys and I did some "spells." I put some water in a bowl, and we would chant over the bowl about happiness and well being then we would dip/wash our hands in the water. They kept asking me, "Mom, is this going to work?" and I would answer, "If we believe in it, it will." It was amazing how well it worked! Our house became serene once more!

Off to work I go!

Blessed Be all! You can rack up another Pagan in the flock.

Whispering Winds... just wanted to applaude your open mind concerning your daughter and all! Yeah... that Rule of Three is a real kicker. LOL

This is how spells work.. Have a need, create a ritual , and BELIEVE it will work and it will....

Hey Pagans,

While not a Pagan, or participant of any individual Religion. I am a Spiritual individual.
I am posting to say that I do generally appreciate the contributions of Pagans to the "energy/spirit" of things.
Thank you.

We had the great privilege of having a Druid Geomancer visit us from Europe on his summer vacation. Stone circles, scoli waves and so on. A very enlightening visitor. He much enjoyed the rocks in our rocky wilderness... Apparently in Europe most every important rock has been messed with many times. Here they have not been used for a very very long time.

Not sure how many people know this but people who find water or wells with a divining rod are using a Pagan "art" to do so..

Yes, Yes, I am one of those with a Coexist bumper sticker. (My has the symbol for science, not the peace symbol on it.) I do not consider Peace a doctrine. "Peace" is what we all seek.

Anyway Pagan books for Gardeners.. The FINDHORN story is a good one IMO>>>>

Wishing you all the best on your paths in life.

ON

To me, (something that alot of people don't seem to understand) is that a spell is really nothing but another form of prayer. As coop crazy put it - "Have a need, create a ritual , and BELIEVE it will work and it will...."

True, it is intention, just as prayer...power of positive thinking, etc. I am a country dweller, and enjoy the spiritual search for truth. I have been know to burn candles, read Krishnamurti, mess with medicinal and cooking herbs. I find a thread of credence in many religions(for me, no offense meant), but I feel that people do themselves a favor by finding their own path.

Wishing happiness, health and love.

BTW, don't let the post fool you, I'm not all sunshine, but is is good to "be there" sometimes.

Rock on

Can I ask? Is this a notice to those of another religion that might come to this thread attacking Pagans? Or is it a notice to the Pagans in the thread to watch what they say about other religions?

If it is a notice to the Pagans...are similar warnings posted on threads that are "for Christians by Christians"?

If not, can I ask why this thread is thought to be a potential problem?

I'm being respectful and all, but I am just curious as I'm not used to seeing 'pre-emptive moderation'. I will say, that the moderators here do an excellent job...and I speak as someone with a long history on message boards and forums of many types. I don't necessarily have a chip on my shoulder.

LizFM,

The monitors are just doing their jobs. If there was a pre-emptive comment it would be because there were prior problems. They are not picking on those who practice Paganism. BYC is a very respectful group but there is nothing wrong with reminding folks to mind their Ps and Qs when something as personal as religion comes up.

It only takes one nasty comment to get a thread locked, KWIM?
