Lucky! Although I guess I actually do too. The SF bay area definitely is more spread across the board than most places.

rainplace,
Just letting you know. If your friend can't find you the 2010 eco-calendar at fremont PCC, there are still some at the west seattle PCC - I checked tonight.

I don't see to have a problem putting my energy out there... sometimes I can't stop it... flooding.

I have a problem with receiving. Does that make sense? It's like I'm too loud... or too scared... or too self centered... or too something.

Has anyone else experienced this before... and if so, what did you do?

I used the phrase " putting my energy out there"... what I wanted tosay, was "I don't seem to have a problem broadcasting"

feathersnuggles, I'll call my friend tomorrow and see. If not, maybe we can meet for coffee or something

Oh heck, want to pick it up for me? I'm free most weekends and some Mondays and Fridays

I grew up in SF & San Jose. Morgan Hill used to have an active community.

I have the burden of being a natural receiver in some areas.
Only for a brief period in my early 20's I had a problem. I was "too" focused on putting my self out there. I was trying "too" hard.
Your answer lies within you. "Too" (Nice introspective thinking by the way..)

I would suggest working on experiencing more awe for life, get down, get humble, cry, let it all in, be aware of all around you, feel it. Volunteer, Face a fear, Carry a larger burden.. (Such as getting more Chickens..

)

Think about it. Being able to "receive" is a major component in most ever Religion. From Fasting, kneeling and or bowing in prayer, to Monks living in isolation without money and having to rely on others for food. All of humanity seeks mechanisms to receive one another and the greater.

Again IMO, The use of the word "energy" is a good one. Though words like, prayer, broadcast, channeling, meditation and hundred if not thousands of other words from every culture on the globe would work.. Even the "force" in George Lucas's Star Wars is a recognition of something more.

Personally, I like the word energy, and find it descriptive and humbling. It is in everything from a quark to a galaxy.

Better stop here....

Just by putting my " Feelers out" I would suggest you need a lil grounding to be able to receive energy better.. Maybe try carrying a Hemetite , Jet , or Moonstone in your pocket for a while. These are all good grounding/focusing tools.. Every once in awhile I still will carry my Jet if I am too unfocused...

What do you all think of me having the Solstice thread closed with a link to this thread??? Let me know that way we dont have people posting on both and the discussions over there will be easily accessed thru here..

Practice and grounding. I would practice at home with a nice, protective bubble of white light .

Receiving isn't particulary difficult but it is a different action. The thing is you don't know WHAT you are opening yourself up to so it is natural to hang back, even subconsciously as a measure of self protection. Nothing wrong with that until your comfort level grows.

Merry Meet All!

I am a solitary eclectic who leans more towards kitchen/hedge witchery. Being solitary, I have amassed a vast library of books on Wicca and related topics, yet can't say I actually have a favorite book/author/tradition. I have taken from each that which works best for me. That said, I believe that someone who is exploring the path for themselves should do the same unless you are seeking a coven who practices a particular tradition. There are many traditions, i.e., Gardenerian, Dianic, Alexandrian, etc., and I have found each to be different. Again, you have to choose what is right for you. As corny as it may sound, the "Dummies" book does give a pretty fair overview though and may be a good place for someone who is interested to begin reading. One of the very first things I read was the Wiccan Rede, which provides the key moral system for Wicca - "...and it harm none, do what ye will."

Blessed Be
