Back roads are great! As mono culture expands and each state has the same chain stores and restaurants, it is my opinion back roads are the best and only way to get a taste of the real local scene.

My father was the "king of the back road" I remember we would get anxious he would go so slow, if their was snow he would be looking for animal tracks in the snow. (Yes you have to go real slow to do that..)

My father passed passed in November. (In his 80's with Parkinson's, died at home with family, so a VERY good thing that was celebrated!)
The last time I took him for a car ride was October, we wandered the back roads without a map to our destination. Just kinda heading the right direction, checking things out as we went along.
It was real nice...

I might as well share my dream from last night. My father was standing in the room. The image was so bright and clear, the colors so so clear. Clear and bright beyond description. I can not remember the communication we had, I was just left with a deep sense of comfort. I woke when I felt the bed move as I watched him lay down to rest...

It was spectacular!

I love to discuss dreams as it seems I get so very much in them. It sounds like your father came for simply the 'comfort' factor. That is so beautiful!! It sounds like you two were very close
So much I want to say here .....

TsaLaGi Acres, go for it!

Yes we were close, he was a very good friend. I am blessed to come from a free thinking, loving, unselfish family. My father kept his spirituality to himself. It only showed in his actions.

Dreams are indeed an interesting subject. I recall you mentioning your belief or recognition of "dark" or demons as you put it. Negative dark dreams for me have had a major impact on existence. I am fortunate to not be directly involved in those dreams I am a third party observer and rarely do I know the people.
Very rarely do I have a bad dream I am in. Only a couple times worrying about my children have I had bad dreams I am in. I like to try and tell my self I mostly good, esoteric dreams or flying dreams..

I want to hear about your dreams! I find it fascinating!

Sometimes I have darker dreams, but I never considered them night mares. Every once in awhile I will have a dream I am glad to wake up from, but I never considered those nightmares either. Usually my dreams have to do with something that happened during the day, or something I have on my mind. I can usually fly in my dreams and every once in awhile I am some sort of animal. I tend to really like those dreams! I do seem to have a lot of dreams about the end of the world. My worry in those dreams is always being with my family at the end. I never die in dreams, but the world usually ends with lava or some disastrous force. It's funny that its never really the total end of the world, as I usually live with another person or two. Uusally spooks me quite a bit though!

The closest thing to a nightmare I've ever had was when I was little and recently diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. I fell asleep and got low blood sugar and couldn't wake up. I remember having a dream where I was playing a game (Sort of like checkers or chess) with the grim reaper. He told me that if I won the game, I could live. If I lost I had to go with him. I remember distinctly that the moment I won his game was the exact moment I woke up and saw my parents trying to give me some juice. I was sooo shaken after that dream. That was the closest I've ever come to death and known it. Although I have to say, looking back on it...playing a game for your life is an interesting concept! Seems the grim reaper has a sense of humor LOL!

Hah, playing checkers with the grim reaper. I bet it's a boring job, being a repear, gotta spice it up some how!

Cool, interesting, and kinda creepy dream, though.

I don't tend to have dreams that I remember or that are vivid unless I'm sleeping on my back. I know strange. I only talk in my sleep when I'm on my back as well. (got real busy with dreams when I was recovering from breast cancer surgery. I slept on the couch on my back all the time. would wake up the hubby in the other room with my talking)

One dream was about a space ship. The aliens were talking to me and I was talking back to them. They turned and were headed back onto the ship. One of them was Allen Jackson. (yup, that Allen Jackson) I woke my husband as I was yelling, "What do you want from me! Tell me what you want!" My husband then scared the poop out of me by shaking me awake before I could get the answer.

Another dream, I don't remember at all. I woke up my husband yelling, "Don't let them kill the turtle" Don't let them kill the little black turtle". I didn't know what it was about at first, but then a friend of mine was dealing with some people who were conducting a fraud about who they were and their connections with different Native peoples tribes. It's then that I remembered I had sent her a necklace, a fetish of a turtle made of jet--black stone. I knew then that the dream was a warning for her to watch out for these people. That is when she figure out what was going on with them and was able to protect herself and her assets.

I have since told my husband NOT to wake me up if I am dreaming, talking or even screaming. I need to go through the whole thing to know what is going on and the fact that when he does wake me up, it scares the crap out of me so bad that I can't go back to sleep for hours.

the Jungian meaning of my dreams are usually anxiety dreams, but when I wake up with a scream and feel the need to walk the house and check on every kid...... I never remember the dream, just the pain and the fear that forced me awake.

Chickerdoodle13,
Wow the grim reaper...Yikes!
CoyoteMagic, Interesting on you back more vivid dreams.. Hmmm I sleep on my side or back, I think that may be true for me to but I don't know for sure. I happy to hear your dream was able to help keep a friend safe.

For me, It is important which way my head is pointing. I am most comfortable with the top of my head pointing east and my feet to the west. With the earths rotation I feel as if I am falling head first with my head to the west..

Does anyone have life long repetitive themes? I have a dark one that has an evil hotel, have it every couple years since I can remember. Nothing ever really happens, the place is just so dark and distorted. Just a real creepy feeling. Very vidid though! (yuck....)
