I'm sorry I've been meaning to answer this but life has been nutty lately and I've just been a bum and done nothing but quilt and be silly for the last 2 days. Been getting to know my new silly kitty and creating thank you gifts for my vets for taking care of my old baby. Needed to detox if you know what I mean.

Different Native American cultures believe that certain places are sacred and have their own spirits. The Black Hills, Black Mesa, specific locations around Sedona, AZ, and the Smokie Mountains are just a few places that are held sacred. A lot of these places are considered the "birth place" of these nations. From where they came into the world from Mother Earth. There are other places that are considered off limits because because the spirits there are not good/evil.

For me personally, Spirits "show" themselves in a couple of different ways. I will see quick images or hear words, or even hear them say something. While energy is a feeling. Gut, hair on the back of your neck, heebeejeebees, whatever you wanna call it. I have this uncanny nack of picking up on things that just don't feel right. Friends will ask me to check my "radar" if they are uncertain about something. I've got a pretty good track record on picking up on frauds.

There was something else I was gonna say but it when away with the wind..............................

My impression is that they choose you.

I believe a guide picks you. I also believe that there are guides that come to you for just a specific time and reason. While others are with you from the time you are born.

Most Native American cultures that I know of have what is called Clans. Basicly the Clan is the big family that you are born into. You are not permitted to marry within your Clan. Each Clan has a guide that watch over it. The Turtle clan, The Butterfly clan, even the Wild Yam Clan!

CoyoteMagic, don't a lot of cultures believe that places can have spirits? I really find the subject fascinating

Those of you who can sense energy and emotions amaze me. I have no such ability. Of course everyone has instincts and I am careful to listen to mine, but I am a long way from being psychic.

Coop, I am hesitant to ask this but could the Anna you felt be Anniebell? If not, forget the question. LOL

That sounds interesting! I would hang it on the wall as artwork.

My mother in laws house sits on the site of an older house that burned down. The owner was well known in town and was nicknamed Doggie Will. When I first went to visit my then boyfriend at their home. I would be sitting in the kitchen and all of a sudden the door would open or the window would shut, and My mother in Law would say." oh there's Doggie Will" or if kept happening then she would say "Out Out Doggie Will" I thought she was crazy.Till I got married and moved in with them for a few months. And then I believed.
P.S. Doggie Will did not die in the fire , but with his house gone he went to live with his daughter and died of old age several yrs before my mother in law bought the land. But I feel like he felt that was always his home and he just needed to be there. Most of the time it seems to be when we are sitting down to a meal or to play a game of cards which we still do and he still joins us.He is pretty much welcome as long as he behaves himself.

When I lived in Iowa, our home was haunted, no doubt about it. At the time I was a skeptic. My religious believes only allowed me two explanations, either I was imagining everything or I had demons. So first, I tried to explain away the strange occurences or ignore them. That didn't work so that left me to look at my belief system. Well, since I had been told that the only way to let demons in your life was if you invited them somehow, I thought that I must be doing something horrible. I wasn't, of course. But my perception of the events made me fear when there really was no need to do so.

I think that purr's approach was much better. You and your mil simply accept DoggieWill as being a part of your home. No need to be afraid or terrified. He is just there.
