LOL woooow people. They ask you what your religion is at your hospital? That's a bit odd.
I don't consider it odd, but probably because I've been around alot of hospitals associated with a convent of catholic nuns or other religious affiliation sponsors. Most hospitals have a priest or chaplain on call for counseling or comforting. They ask your religion so they know which chaplain or other religious worker to have visit you in case of trying times. I've received care at St.Jopeph's/Mercy health center in Hot Springs. The nuns there are very sweet and helpful.
My son was born at Mercy Hospital in Miami, run by nuns. My daughter was born at a non-denominational hospital, but they had priests and chaplains on staff.
Funny story there.
My mom knew I was in labor with my daughter, but couldn't get any information regarding how I was doing and how far my labor had progressed. This way back in the day before cell phones were widely used. When she couldn't get any info. from the desk, she asked to speak to the priest. Nothing like coming out of anesthesia (from my C-section) to find a priest standing over you.
