By all means explore it further. It is fascinating to me. I generally group them such as Felion, canine and so forth. I find the general feminine or masculine form of different species of animals very fascinating.

Much is to be learned about yourself by your animal connections... I really try and make an effort to not try "humanize" the experiences just sense them for what they are.. I personally find the experiences very humbling, and demonstrating that I am still a very earthbound being.

ebwy.. Awsome the Wolf!!

(I generally avoid zoos, they make me sad.. Their is no dignity in being indiscriminately stared at . Especially for "high" sensitivity creatures such as the Wolf.)

It is my opinion many creatures are better at reading humans than we are at reading them...

the wolf at the zoo was on his own... I cried at night for ages because he was so very lonely

I did get taken back to the zoo a couple of years later but was very firmly steered away from the wolf...

I don't mind decent places that give their animals a good life with enough space etc and try to keep them in their natural way... but bristol zoo in the latee 70's / early 80's didn't do that.

I can't do zoos. They make me ill. Too much "noise"

How do you feel about hummingbirds?

I respect the hummingbird. They always get my attention, and have the ability to change the state of mind I am in. (Usually slowing me down, and putting me back on natures rhythm. Sometimes watching their amazing flight skills they give me that tingle feeling, like when you stand on the edge of a cliff.) Busy little boys they are. They are strong, inquisitive, friendly and fearless. I would consider them to be helpful and considerate creatures. They mark the seasons by their arrival and departure. Their "presence" stays in the air even after they have left for the season like the common Loon.

I am interested in the Native American perspective on the hummingbird..

Hello everyone!! Thank you for the invite CoopCrazy!!
I've been reading and trying to catch up on this forum, wow what a neat topic to be privileged to read. I guess I should introduce myself a lil' bit here at least on some of 'my' beliefs.

I'm of Christian descent although am more Spiritual (I think would be the proper term) Most of all I guess I'm just me... I am a collage of thoughts, ideas and feelings..I never could stay 'inside that box' so to speak.
I believe in God (although I do not understand everything about the bible), but also have a very high respect for others as well as their beliefs. I DO believe that more ppl should walk through life w/o their blinders on ..I find it interesting that ppl focus so much of their life on 'when they die' that sometimes they close off their life to other experiences that they might enjoy.
I am strong in my convictions but choose not to convict others for their beliefs or their convictions as it's simply not my place.
I LOVE to make ppl think!! lol
I love all animals but have some that I enjoy more than others..Nature, is in my opinion something that more ppl should become 1 with (SO much for ppl to learn from nature)
I believe in 'gifts', spirits, ghosts and unfortunatly demons. It takes the bad to sometimes see the good in things. I feel life is a cycle that continues until we are where we are supposed to be..we'll know when we get there:)
Have I rambled enough? lol

As far as the humming birds, Ellen and I both enjoy hummingbirds! We have several that come around and flutter right close to us. We also have had the fun of having them buzz our heads while on the porch lol We have Rose of Sharon growing right beside the porch and often set with our backs to it...they come and whisper their good morning and good evenings to us. lol They are such beautiful lil beings with such strength as to their flight and behaviors. Something to truly be cherished with each moment of being around them.

CoyoteMagic,
A most sincere and deepest thank you!
Since your post I have been thinking and researching the Hummingbird. It seems the hummingbird has a special place for many if not all native cultures in all of the America's.
In the last year + many paths of interest and study for me have been drawing me to Ancient cultures of the Inca and Mayan peoples. Everything from the 2000 year old man made super soil (Terra Preta do Indio, which baffles scientists to this day and may be our solution to world hunger and carbon sequestering.) To their mother grain Quinoa (Ever wonder why little is grown in North America? VERY interesting story!). Know the hummingbird of Inca and of the Mayan culture...Whoa. Almost scary even for me. (I would need to stop all day to day duties in order to allow it to take me that deep into discovery.)

Yes I grasp and have lived my whole life with many of the qualities of the hummingbird such as deep love for everything around me, passion, and the desire to make others feel good, the driving interest in the old ways. (Heck I build traditional log houses with 150 year old hand tools..)..

Where the hummingbird creates a deep spiraling vortex for me is in its time morphing traits! I have always had the strong sense that my "spirit" does not exist in any one place. That I am translucent. Time by the sun rising and setting and the seasons changing is only the rocking of the cradle. Time is an earthy force which...
Anyway... This path may hold the answers to my only real question.. Yikes that is scary.

Oh by the way, when looking into the hummingbird in North American native culture, it is were I came across the meaning of TsaLaGi. Within hours we have a new BYC member using TasaLaGi in their title... TasaLaGi, thank you for coming.

Very interesting. Again, I thank you CoyoteMagic..
I will continue to open myself to the hummingbird and when they return again, I will see if they will take me in.
