I have three different realities in my dreams. One is the museum. One is a high rise on a pier. And one is a country Post office. It is always spring at the post office.

I tried to change them not to long ago and my dream started as a hike to a waterfall, the waterfall parted and there was an old medicine man with a wolf/coyote? The "dog" wanted to run to me and greet me but the medicine man wouldn't let me. "No, she is not ready" he kept saying. Three times I have had this when I consciously try to change my dreams. It is weird cause the "dog" really wants to come to me. I can't move my feet past a certain spot. It drives me nuts.

Anyone???

Do any of you have any way of honoring your ancestors? I ask because I have read that other cultures have a traditions of respecting the dead and I was wondering if modern Western Pagans do something similar.

At Samhain ( Halloween) we set the table for our loved ones, and invite them to dine with us.. We also include a Samhain litany with the names of those who have passed before us and we wish to honor.. I also give offerings to the universe for my loved ones thru either food or smoke, soemtimes even a chalice of fire..

Thank goodness, I am not the only one with the awful dream of "hiding the body" I have elaborate "hiding the body" bad yucky dreams once every five years or so. (That is plenty for me.............) Those always freaks me out for weeks or months!!!

Those kind of dreams make me ponder reincarnation (A past life of mine??) Or am I in someone else's body or a parallel universe? (I never dream "first person" in yucky dreams. Not sure if that is just a safety mechanism, denial or that I am indeed witnessing others emotions on a level I am incapable of awake?

Those kind of dreams lead to some of my deepest questions about life.
ON

Oh yes... I am lovin each and every one of the dream stories.... !!!!!

Yes, Thanks for saying it CoopCrazy....
Oh heck I might as well come out and say it. To me the "boss" in the "brooder boss" of your avatar rings true. I just can not resist my overwhelming urge to acknowledge your strong leadership aura. For what ever reason you act as the center or channeling stone in the stone circle of this thread. (In my very humble opinion.) (I apologize if that is weird or offensive to any one.. Just needed to acknowledge my sense of the pretty cool "spin" of energy this group creates..)

I have to be away for a few days..... Wishing peace and love to ya all!

well thanks ON.. I apprecaite that.. i think my energy had to take a more powerful stand.. I went from being Thane to Two High Priestesses then to High Preist and Tossed right in to Daddy.. I had to take on much more energy for others and I think I now have a natural pull for it.. I may not comment as much on this thread but I do check it first thing each day, read up, see what others have to say, then if need be put in my two cents... I love that soo many folks have just naturally flowed over here and others thru a post or two have kinda "Flashed" at us already here..

You will be missed while you are away ON, Be Blessed and keep the Love of the Ancient Ones with you... Blessed Be

Thank you for the welcome, CoopCrazy. <3

OrganicsNorth -- I tend to dream in third person more than first, it's really quite interesting. I wonder as well if some of what people dream could be adventures in other realities or even past life experiences. Or perhaps it's just a wiring of the brain...

As for honouring the family ancestors...we don't really have any traditions specifically for that occasion in my family (a hodge podge of Pagan/Wiccan/Buddhist/Atheist peeps), but we are very conscious of our loved ones which have passed on...and many of us will make a point of asking them for guidance. It is also not unusual for a recently passed family member to visit with their closest loved ones only hours after their death...if not in dreams, then in glances out of the corner of the eye.

Organic North, could dreams about hiding a body represent something else, like trying to keep different parts of your life secret from others? Or maybe there is something embarrasing that you would rather not allow anyone to know.

I wonder if my dream had something to do with my practicing of paganism. At the present time, I am not telling anyone but my husband of my readings and religious exploration. I set up an altar but it has no statuary so no one, not familiar with Wicca, would know what my little table represents. Many of my friends are Christians, even fundamentalists. I am simply not ready emotionally to destroy my friendships with these people, or in some cases, endure efforts to convert me. Eventually, I will come out, but it will be when I am ready.

So my dream could be assurances that, for now, I can keep my secrets.

Of course, the dream could mean something entirely different.

Here is something my neighbor told me. I visit often with my next door neighbor. She is a very sweet woman.

Jokingly, I have told her that she is witchy. Lately, she has opened up to me and told me how the women in her family have been natural attractors of spirits/ghosts. Whenever she comes to my house, sometimes I begin experiencing strange things for a few days. If she stays away, I don't hear knockings or experience smells. The church that she attends would not be open to believing that her family has had these experiences. She would either be labeled as someone who did things that let the devil into their home or she would be seen as someone who is not a 'real' Christian or she would be seen as nuts. I have been telling her that she is just very sensitive and to not be afraid.

Most of her experiences have been harmless. Once when she was a young girl, the children in some of her mother's family began experiencing some more frightening hauntings. The kids were all located in various parts of the country but their experiences were eerily familiar. Anyway, her mother was told to put salt on their window sills and draw crosses in oil on their doorways. I pointed out that the salt was just pure magic that her mom was working. My friend agreed

But what my friend said next caused me to wonder how to respond. Apparently someone in the family thought that one of their relatives was a witch and causing the hauntings. So they advised the family members to lay a broom across the threshold because they didn't believe that a witch would step over a broom. Uh....okay....

I have the deepest respect for my friend's faith but there has to be a way to respectfully tell her that the broom trick won't work and that her relative, if a witch, was probably unlikely to be the culprit behind her childhood hauntings.

Interesting...

My grandmother and oldest female cousin are quite similar in the whole spirit attraction thing, if you want to be sure a place is haunted best bring one of them along...
