Chickie'sMoma :

just curious if anyone here does belly dancing as a way to loose weight or work on body strength? or if you use it in part of your rituals? i don't think it would get much of a warm reception if i posted this as it's own thread and i feel like there is someone on here that may practice it. i'm just curious how well it has worked for you.

Boyd, i hope you get that job! here's hoping what you did will work for you!

Here is my 2 cents this evening:
I don't know that much about it but I understand belly dancing is a powerful tool to reach a deep meditative state... Not unlike Yoga or other eastern physical arts. It is physical so one would think it would be good for weight loss and body strength, along with the meditative "centering" qualities to help you obtain your goals. I would think finding a good proper instructor would be important.

I must mention today NPR talk of the nation had an interesting program on the "placebo effect" of sugar pills curing symptoms or illness. I find it interesting that this is another example of what our minds are capable of when we "believe" in an outcome. This really has me thinking tonight.....

IMHO tonight ...I am seeing the ritual of Magik as a powerful placebo.... One believes in it... This in turn sets your will in motion.

Boyd, believe in your magik. It is set in motion.

I mean this with all respect. You're not that important to the cosmos, for it to utterly realign for you. (If it makes you feel better, neither am I). You did not wish for "bob to loose his job so I can steal it" you asked "look man, I need a job to feed my family". Asking one way would be wrong, asking the other is reasonable. People often loose jobs because someone an inch better shows up, I don't think that's the fault for the second guy. Don't get me wrong, you screw up pleanty, but this one's not.

I know, but my misdeeds far outweigh what my attempts to balance the scales have been. Still working on that... But I mean, I told you about the weird dreams I've been having for close to a week running.. weirdness. I've never been a merc, been tempted, but never done it. Only way I'd work for an operation like blackwater or another PMC is a support role in IT or coms or something.

I dreamed I was singing backup for Sheryl Crowe, but didn't buy the new CD so I didn't know the songs... sometimes dreams are just dreams.

Mr Saddi, who is far more analytical and skeptical than I, sees magik, prayer and wishes all in a one lump of "emotions and thoughts directed at a specific outcome". Or wishful thinking, that if you hope and work toward a goal you'll get it.

you didn't ask for HIS job, you asked for a job. the people who should be worried about any come-back from that are the people who hire then fire, not you.

honestly, I don't think you have anything to worry about. You can't control THEIR actions, thus cannot take the blame for them.

and as for selfish.. if you had plenty and were asking for more, that might be selfish. My understanding is that you want a job to keep the family fed - which is not selfish.

So awesome to find this pagan thread. I myself am not really pagan per say, I practiced wicca as a teenager and my best friend was raised wiccan in a coven. I still believe in many of the pagan ways. Mother Earth is amazing. I feel at the top of my game in nature itself away from all the hustle and bussel ofcars and noise. Give me a beautiful stream in the middle of a forest at sunset and I am oh so happy. Having said that, when I delved in paganism and wicca as a teenager, my mother like most was afraid of what she didnt understand, partially why I was cut off from the study and practice. Well, 10 years later, now my mother is wiccan.

Knew I would rub off on her. She never fit in in a church or any other religion. Now she has found her happiness in mother earth and her beauty. She is a much happier person and much more balanced now. I am so happy for her and now that she has found her place, maybe I can get back to mine. She also loves how much we can bond now that she can ask me things that I know and she doesnt and vice versa. Anywho dropped by to tell my small story and say hello to all the wonderful women and men who visit this amazing thread.

want to plant a seed in my garden for you. I don't quite know why really, it just feels right.

This is a great idea! I'm planting corn today....Saddina, do you feel at all like a corn person? How about marigolds? I'm starting both of these today and I'm gonna plant some for you.
