Normally we should have winter, but you can feel nothing from it. It felt like spring. As you can see on the picture our peafowl are enjoying this weather very much.
The following pictures are made from our “Apollo” I made last weekend, the 12th and 13th December.
As you can see on the pictures, he displays as the most of the green males in the shadow, because there the eyes are having the most intensive flashing. On the picture it is possible to see how they are flashing and the rest is dark.
When I made this Picture below I was on „Appolo’s” displaying place. On his body posture you can see that he didn’t appreciate this. With the head down and the train up this is the typical threaten posture of a male. It is his territory and due to this I immediately left this place. After everything was ok for him.
Young hen from 2015 which will stay in our facilities until spring. Then she will go to a good breeder friend. As you can see on the pictures she is already beautiful coloured and is very tall, she has already the size of an adult female.

The little latecomer hen from 2015, together with her two blue friends out of the aviaries.
On the first picture you can that the hen, now 5 month old, has started to change her mostly brown chick crest. The first coloured, green feathers you can see already now.
The first green peafowl chicks for 2016 are here now.
The hens started laying very early this year and due to this yesterday the first chicks are eclosed.
I wish all of you a good and successful breeding season.
Breeding peafowl hens
Not always I can manage that my hens are breeding, especially for the green peafowl hens it is not so easy to offer a suitable place for breeding.
The black shoulder hen in the pictures is the best breeding hen which I ever had. She lays every year exact 5 eggs and then she starts breeding and nothing can disturb her. Last year a Muscovy duck was laying with her in the same nest, but this could not disturb her.
With the green peafowl this is much more difficult, because if there is a small item which they don’t like they will not breed or stand up after some days. Due to this I’m very happy, because at the moment 3 green hens are sitting on her eggs. On the picture you see our Trixi, she is sitting now since 2.5 weeks on the eggs and hopefully she will finish it.
