Oh Craigslist, You Amuse Me So!

Here's a wonderful free farm dog! He'd be great on a ranch so he has lots of room to run! By the way, he fights with other dogs. And he hates children. And he tries to kill cats. And he chases wildlife. And he only listens to you when he wants to. But if you have a farm with no other animals or kids, he'd be perfect!

:lau :gig How do you have a farm without animals????

Chickens!!! They didn't say anything about chickens and poultry. Mebbe he's wonderful at protecting chickens from wildlife and other dogs and even the dreaded killer cats. He could be the perfect dog. Just give him a chance on your poultry farm.

I kind of have one like that. She does not chase animals, but when people drive into the yard she has to bark and run over to greet them,..

When I call her name and tell her to "shut up" she does. When I call her to come to me (when there are people in the drive) She looks at me as if to say " I hear you, I know what you want, I have decided to stay here instead".

I think the meter reader has caused this to occur. She gives them a "treat" when she is reading meters so she think everyone might give her a treat.

Makes perfect sense to me!

I'd take him..... (sucker!)

Sometimes it's the circumstances that contribute to the behaviour. My (clueless) sister got a dog, a blue heeler. He was a nuisance when he lived with her, he just ran rampant, jumped up, got into everything. She got pregnant and decided that having him leap at her wasn't a good thing and a friend of hers took him. I lived in the same suburb as that guy, and I'd see them around and about, at the beach and up the shops. He was a wonderful dog. He got trained, he knew where he stood, he got taken out and about, not just told to shut up and stop whatever he was doing. He was a delight with the "right" owner who gave him what he needed.

At least the people are honest about the dog. I'm sure a lot of animals put up for adoption don't have their issues accurately described because the people want rid of them and fewer people would take it off their hands if told the truth.
