Oh Craigslist, You Amuse Me So!

I don't mind the breeding of hybrids or even the fancy hybrid names given, but I can't understand why people would pay such a mark up for a mix. There are many awesome breeders out there. An ounce of research saves a lot of money on medical bills & future heartache. I couldn't believe those puppy stores actually exist.

Back to CL ads....
I saw an add for lav orps- and they used real lavender in the photos.
Not exactly "funny" just a fun play on words.

Cause it's "trendy" and "cute" :/:barnie

You could get the same dog from a shelter too for less but nooooo

Both of our current dogs came from shelters. Because of children , I wanted to skip the young puppy stage. (At the time my young kids were having "accidents" and putting enough random stuff inside their mouths, so I didn't need another creature doing the same thing.) It was perfect for us to get a 6-8 mo old dog - young, good health, neutered, micro-chipped, house trained, and ready for obedience training.

Yeah, shelter dogs are definitely great :)

I want one eventually

There are not usually many small(er) dogs at the dog orphanage, it's usually the bigger ones who get dumped.

Around here there's plenty of smaller dogs in shelters but of course it depends on where in the country you are and the small, cute ones and puppies get adopted really quickly! But you are right, most people don't get rid of smaller cute dogs and get rid pf the big rambunctious energetic dogs. Lots of lab and pit mixes in my area

That's part of it, too. If they do get put up for rehoming/they get picked more quickly so they generally don't turn into "long-termers" in the orphanage. It's easier to find room for a little "dog person" than a big one who needs lots of room/lots of food/lots of exercise. Especially if they haven't had a good background and have "issues" that you need to sort out. It's very sad. "(
