Production Red cross chicks for sale - $4 (Trinity)

These chicks were hatched naturally under a broody hen. 5 of them are 3/4 game ( Claret ) and 1/4 Production red. One of them is 3/4 Production red and 1/4 Claret ( sneaky production red hen snuck in the nest box with the hen and I missed it. ) So now I have 6 wonderful mutt babies to sell. They hatched 28th, and are ready to go. All six are up and running. Should mature out to be tan bodied, brown headed, laying and broody machines. Of course being 3/4 game they may lay in clutches and try to sit every so often. If that happens, just hatch more chicks! These hens will be perfect for shipped eggs, eggs from your own flock, or anything in between that you want to hatch out! Of course, I never wanted this hen to sit on this clutch. So, if these chicks don't sale I'm going to toss them out into my brown egger flock and let it be. An egg is an egg, right?

Okay, so if you think you are going to get 'cute little fuzzy' chicks for your son/daughter/nephew/grandkids for Easter... You're wrong. Please do NOT contact me unless you are fully aware of how stinky, smelly, and ridiculously awesome chickens can be. Please do NOT contact me if you're just looking for an Easter pet for your, whatever. These are live animals, NOT toys. ONLY contact me if you are looking for scrumdidliumptious eggs in the not so near future, like, 20 weeks away future. Thank you.

SPeak it!

I know of a farmer who 'rents' chicks for Easter. They come with a rubbermaid tub brooder, food, a waterer, heat lamp, and 3 or 4 chicks. IIRC, they cost around $25, plus a deposit to rent the setup for about 3 weeks. Then the whole setup with 3 week old chicks is returned to the farm. This is in a suburb outside of a large city, and she's been doing this program for several years, so it must be pretty successful.

RED BOURBON TURKEYS

We have Red Bourbon turkeys for sale. They were hatched in an incubator and are roughly 2 months old. They grow like weeds and will make an excellent Thanksgiving Dinner for you this year. We cannot tell what gender they are yet...but if you are going to butcher...it won't matter. We have around 10 that are 2 months old and 7 that are around 2 weeks old. Email if interested...
Thanks!

I wonder if the seller has actually finished a heritage bird in that short of a time? Might be a pretty sparse Thanksgiving... and while I'm wondering, wonder if they were really laying in January?

My Blue Slates have just started laying, roughly 2 weeks ago. One hen for sure is laying. This is Texas, where it's already good weather.. I doubt that they were laying in January ( but I guess they were ) unless they're in a commercial type set up?

This is in Pennsylvania. I don't have turkeys right now, but I don't think I ever had either the slates or BR's lay much before April. If they have a commercial setup, you'd think they'd know the difference between Red Bourbon's and Bourbon Reds.

My first set of Bourbon Red turkeys (poults) hatched in January 2012, so I fall in that category of early laying. My girls were laying in November. My baby poults are 6 days away from being 3 months old, so it's possible that this person's hens were laying in January. In areas where the temps are warmer, turkeys begin laying early and in some areas, turkeys lay year round. While people are waiting on their turkeys to start laying, my babies have already hatched and growing. Although I don't plan on butchering mine for Thanksgiving. I'm not sure how large of a bird they will be at that age.

Here are pics of 4 of them (2 of the males wrestling!). I have 7 more that are not pictured. First hatch date was 1-9-2012. I live in Louisiana.

We have a BYC thread talking about our turkey hens setting and hatching.
