OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hello!  We are in little Liberty Center, Ohio.... about 45 minutes south west of Toledo.  I grew up on a farm & craved being back out in the country. Liberty Center was the perfect place!  We are 'in town'... but feel like we are in the country.  We have 14 chickens and eventually we want Buckeyes !  Can't wait to get some - they look so pretty in the pictures !

Hi. I know there is a guy near kenton ohio that raises buckeyes. Keep an eye out on craigslist in the lima findlay area. He said he has some hatching soon. They go fast though. Just fyi.

You are in the right state for Buckeyes. The American Buckeye Club has a breeder directory that lists folks in Ohio first. See: http://www.americanbuckeyeclub.org/Services.html I'm sure any of the folks listed would be happy to help you get started with some Buckeyes. I bought 15 from Ann and Bob Wood and have been very pleased with them so far.

Ok, I am in need of some massive help here. My daughter went out to feed her chickens Sat morning and found ALL of them dead. They were killed by raccoons. This included her 4 chickens that she was raising for her first 4H project. I have been searching all week for some older chickens for her since the fair is only 2 months away with no luck at all. She wants to show frizzles, showgirls, or silkies. I am willing to travel, I live in Butler County. I need these ASAP. She is upset about the other ones and upset because of right now she will not be able to show anything at the fair. Please let me know where I can buy some.

Hello ladykbug! I am a BGSU alum and grew up near Tiffin.
You say you want Buckeyes (me too); check out the Meyer Hatchery website (http://www.meyerhatchery.com/) - their next giveaway is for 10 Buckeye hens. (They typically have an order limit of 3.)

No offense to the Myer Hatchery ( I have birds from them, including Buckeyes arriving June 4th) but if you want true buckeyes check the American Buckeye Club link that was posted above. I have 6 Buckeyes from Jeff Lay, a true breeder of the birds and am very happy with them! I ordered my Buckeyes from Myer before I knew about the ABC and the difference between buying from a breeder and a hatchery. I kept my order in place even after I got the ones from Mr. Lay so that I could show the difference between hatchery stock and breeder stock, that's it. After they get some size to them I am going to butcher them...

If you would like more information on the club, or even Buckeyes check out the Facebook page, there are some wonderful and helpful people there!

I am in Greenville-Darke County.
I have some white Silkies and 1 partridge and 1 or 2 black Silkies that I am looking to sell or trade. One of the Silkies has a dark red rosecomb, another has a black single comb, but some of the others may be nice enough to show. I don't show, so I can't say, but you would be welcome to come see them. They are about 3 months old, I think-I would need to check for sure.

So sorry mlaff,

I may be able to help you with showgirls. My mom has chickens that she wants to rehome. If you're interested in getting her contact information, pm me.

Hi all,

So my call duck hatches have been successful. I have 14 ducklings from under 2 different mothers. One batch is 2+ weeks old and the others will be a week old on Saturday.

If anyone is looking for call ducks, shoot me a pm. They are crosses between white female/ butterscotch male and black female/ butterscotch male. This is my first hatch so I have no idea what they'll end up looking like.

Unfortunately (for me), I will have to sell most of them - no space for all those babies!

Thanks,
Wendy
