OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Could I talk you into hatching some Basque out for me and I'll buy the chicks? We have set two clutches of eggs under broodies 2 different times with 0% success. I think hatching may not be the way to go for us!

did you try shipped eggs under broodies? if so, there usually isn't a lot of success with that, due to air cell problems.  my basque are starting to molt, im not getting a lot of eggs at the moment. I can try to save a few, and I think I have some chicks here too. ill try and see if I have a good trio, but the way I have everything mixed up right now, its a mess.

Yes, on the shipped eggs under the broodies. They looked full term and most of the yolk was absorbed. Membrane was wet tho so I'm guessing humidity issues. It's been really rainy here. I just assumed the hen would take care of everything. We are going to try our bator out on our homegrown SS over RIR and SPPR eggs to try to get the hang of it. Don't want to spend more money on 0% results right now.

Am definitely still interested in the Basque. A trio would be great and with some additional chicks from Cluckitail that would get our program off to a great start.

I had the same luck. I think its where their air cells get displaced but im not sure.

ill see what I can come up with, between us both im sure we can get you a great start. I am interested in some of cluckitalls basque too for a little diversity.

In doing some research on Basque tonight I ran across Pita Pintas. Gorgeous! Are they a color type of Basque or a completely different breed? Everything I can find on them is in Spanish and me no habla.

Pretty! I had to go look. They look similar to Basque in build, but if they are basque-derived, that's a new color someone created. Judging them against the gallon waterer, I'm quite sure they'd be considered lightweight large fowl.

Dang, I wish I was rich enough to import about twenty!

Just wanted to put in a request on scheduling the meet-up -- at least 30 days notice, pretty please? Otherwise I won't have anything to bring! Or not much, anyway...
