The guy at TSC says he's never seen so many chickens go so fast.I call them to see if they got any in.I deal with the one in Wooster.Kevin

i set 40 dozen of eggs , should hatch b4 easter.....anyone in southern Ohio make you a great deal on some dayold chicks about a 4th of what TSC sell them for..RIR and NH....I do this each year just to check out my incubators.

Sure, it starts with those 11 or 12 cute, fluffy little fuzzballs...they look soooo tiny in that big box....and then you find out how fun they are, and when that first egg comes, it's like party time!
Then you realize that next year they will take a break and shed out those feathers, which means no eggs, or very few, for a while. Now you're hooked and being a good planner you realize,.."Hmmm..I'd better get a few more next spring before these girls start their molt..." and there you are. Hook-line-sinker...welcome to the club!
 
Right about the chicken math. I asked my mayor if I could have three or four birds. I now have to predent that I actually said "thirty-four", and he misheard me!

Would it be better to get them at a different time of year so they molt at different times

May 21, nice show!
I may take some Silkie chicks to sell still hatching every week, Mostly Partridge, parent birds are Exhibition quality and have been winners.
