OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

There aren't any reasonable organic feed suppliers near us. We drive to Mt. Eaton to get it. There's a small discount for paying by cash or check. There's a farm in West Salem that has it on occasion, but our chickens rarely laid when we fed them that feed. The drive to Mt. Eaton is worth it for us. We just stock up while we're there.

Central Ohio processors besides plucky? I'm really needing to get my CX done, soonest I could get in to plucky is the 23rd and the heat is killing my poor babies :(

I can pay someone to do it.

Do any of you guys sell eggs and what are you charging? We were charging 1.50 per dozen, 1.25 each for two dozen or more. Originally, people were looking at us like they thought that was expensive. Now, people are beginning to ask us for eggs, and they're looking at us like they think that's cheap. Ohio is notoriously cheap, so what d'ya think?
The cheapest I've found fresh free range eggs around here is $1.75 a dozen.

If I had more confidence in what I was doing I would do it for you. I am just raising my first batch of cx's now. My only advice for you would be to find an Amish family...

Good Luck in your search!

My first call ducklings hatched today...SOOOO excited! There are 4 so far, but I expect to see more in the morning. Three of the ducks are sitting right now, so I may be swimming in ducklings soon

They are just so tiny and adorable! If any other Ohioans out there are looking for call ducklings, I'll be able to fix you up!

I've been looking for a while. Let us all know if you find someone.

Saw a neighbor up the road advertising brown eggs for $1.50/doz. Seems cheap to me when Hillendale (i.e. Croton Egg Factory eggs) sells brown ones in the store for $2.89/doz.

Does anyone know where I can get Brooder lights? I have one but it's a 250 watt. I'd like a few different wattage lights, but TSC doesn't carry what I'm looking for, and I can't seem to find them online.
:/
Just raise them higher. That way they cast less heat and you don't need to keep so many bulbs.
