Ohmygod no...missing duck. :(

I'm so sorry about your missing duck. I hope you find out what happened, even if it isn't the best news----not knowing is so much worse.

I don't know how hard it might be to get her back if that guy stole her, but at least your neighbor knows what the guy looks like if he's the one who has her.

you might call the sheriff's office and tell them what has happened and what your neighbor told you just to see what they have to say. I am so sorry.

A guy with a dog carrier.........does not bode well...It may be too late but if you could walk near where the guy was seen and look for tracks, measure and note the treadmarks...you might be able to figure out if he turned and left or just went on. May have wanted it for a pet, dinner or a 'duck rescuer wannnabe'. Sorry about your loss. You might notify local vets with a flyer too. I had my 2 labs breech the fence and d disappear for 10 days. I took flyers to all the nearby vet offices, soon got a call and my dogs showed up shortly after.

Thanks for all the help from everyone!

I will make a call to the police dept. here tomorrow and let everyone know what they say. I honestly wish I knew for sure what happened.

Mominoz,

You have Arabians? I raise and show them.

Was your duck banded or did she have any distinguishable marks? Where I live, if someone steals your animal and it isn't microchipped or tattooed (and pics have to be filed with a vet, I think) you cannot force anyone to return it to you. Even if you have pictures of the animal in your possession. That doesn't mean you couldn't steal her back, if you found her. Although, animals considered to be livestock often have stricter laws. But I would definitely talk to the authorities.

I sure hope you find her. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry. It's really hard not knowing for sure what happened, but it does sound like she was stolen. I did not have her microchipped, so unless you did, she doesn't have one. I hope you find her

I agree about the cameras. I sure hope you find her safe and sound.

If she was stolen, I think that guy's got a lot of gall! I mean, he could have gone down to just about any public park or lake and found a nice duck if he wanted one. We have several that need good homes if you can catch them.

Thanks Kansaseq, I am so sorry I let something happen to her!

. Everything was going so perfectly, and she had really become my favorite duck (shhh no one tell the others) and we are all crushed.

I am going to be hanging some flyers around the neighborhood JUST in case. My other step is to go file a report with the police dept. They told me to come in and file one, but that they weren't sure they could do much to help me out. However if I was able to locate her myself, I would have that report on file to help show she was stolen.

I did not even know you could microchip ducks. But I'll tell you what, we'll be getting ones for our ducks, like we have for our dogs.

Dances with Ducks,

I've been leaving my Saint Bernard mix outside a little more than usual lately to keep an eye on things. He enjoys the snow so I don't worry about him, and I know he won't let anything near without me knowing.
Now I need a camera. I wonder if some kind of nanny cam would work. How do you guys who have cameras, get more than an hour or two of recording time? What's your set-up?
