Oil Paintings..Beginners Post your paintings!

These are not oil paintings but a sample of my China Painting - kind of like oil where you paint in layers to get your depth. Depth is the hardiest part for me too! But with anything practice, practice and more practice. I know what you mean about not getting to class. My teacher was having some work done her house and cancelled last week and it drove me nuts.

Thanks - wish we lived closer so we could spend the day painting together. If I do not have some thing creative going in my life I go nuts! I have always said that "doing art is cheaper than a psychiatrist"! My boss thinks that is pretty funny since he is a psychologist and glad that his clients don't always think that way!! Not good for business

I have no idea since I just started painting but what is your fav flower? Try it. This is fun and we would love to see your flower when you are done!

Great paintings everyone

I don't have many good paintbrushes still alive, have no clue where my canvas boards are, and I hope my paints aren't dried out

I'm not any good at painting, but then again, I don't paint but maybe a few times a year, or less. I need to practice, just haven't gotten around to it. Pencils and pens come much more natural to me.
One thing I would LOVE to do is get good enough to paint on feathers.

Becky, my art teacher paints on rocks! She does these amazing paintings. I have one and it looks like one of my shih-tzu, Oliver that she did for me. She sees things in rocks and paints them. little villages, animals, etc. I cannot draw a straight line, no kidding. I have to paint free handed as I can't "draw" a picture and then paint it. So I imagine your drawings are amazing and would love to see some.

I'm with the rest of you who can't draw. I know that some day the "light bulb" will come on and I'll be able to draw what I see but for now I can only do the painting part. The teacher that I have now is really good and has already helped me with seeing where the shadows would be in order to give the flowers more depth. I envy people who can draw.

Also, I think that is why I like welding - fabrication fits me better since I can build the dimension rather than having to draw it.

Working on my studio this weekend and hope to have it completed by next weekend. Lots to do though.
