***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I am planning on coming to blanchard tonight. Picking up a few birds from Mike D. I told DH that I wouldnt be staying all night unless I just found something that I just couldnt live without.

I am looking for Ameraucanas, Naked Necks, And Ducks! Maybe some Guineas...

Hope to see everyone tonight!

Yes please do and I can even give his guinea pig cage with him. Thanks!

I really could use the blue, since Lucius passed away but know your girl Peaches really needs a man, too.

Oh sure they will like it, who else of their friends has a pet bull to meet them at the bus everyday. Maybe good as a deterrent to those teenage boys. Ferdinand would be would be a great name.

Hey Buster,
You know Bill Elwood and I have been kicking around an idea of building a portable processing center. We all need to put our heads together about this and see what we can come up with. It would great for just situations.

Are you thinking one you could use to process for others, or one to loan or rent out so others could process for themselves? If the former, it would have to be USDA inspected and approved. That's pretty expensive, and there would have to be sufficient demand to pay for itself. If the latter, that's a piece of cake. We could each purchase our own elements (plucker, cooler tubs, processing table, scalder, and killing cone setup) for it to loan to each other, then charge others who want the whole setup.

You could charge two prices. One just to rent the setup out, and one where we would "help" the customer process their own birds, thus avoiding the USDA rule requirements.

I personally have only lost power 1 time & it was for a few hours. I wrapped up the incubator to help it stay warmer. From my understanding eggs that you just set in the incubator are much more fragile to temp changes than eggs that are almost fully formed.
So sorry you lost all those babies!!!

I know you must have been very disappointed! SO sorry.

I've been spending my time in the yarden and working on building the new recycled coop. Making plans for a new small batch of chicks. Also researching fruit trees to see what I'm going to plant this year in the way of trees.

What do you use to make the recyled coops? And how easy are they to make? Can I do it myself without DH? He's not much into my chicken projects. I sure could use a few more? Ha!
