A big all BREED SHOW is coming up for the first time in ten yrs in Hutch Kan's [[Pigeun ]]] Show ..I dont no the date yet but will after this weeken ..An the pigeun club is trying to combine ther show with the chicken show at Newcastle hope it work's out Stillwater is wer they had ben having it the rent ther is 750.way to high....

The girls say they are going to show, but who knows. Most of the birds are looking rough from the heat & have lots moulting.
Christina, my birds are looking bleached out from the sun, does that happen to yours? They look faded. And even the ones without males in with them look like their feathers are tattered, what's up with that? Too many mud baths? They're wet a LOT from being under the sprinklers, maybe that dries their feathers out or something. They sit under the spray from the sprinkler in the shade and just shake the water off every so often. It must feel good

but they get to looking like drowned rats.
Mike, my Bantam Faverolles are laying like crazy also. Does your friend want LF or Bantams?

HELLO EVERYONE

How are all of you? I know I dont get on here as nearly as I once was back in the early days.. and even before we moved away.. but I do still keep some of you in my thoughts.

Do tell me does Buster52 still get on here? Aleisha has been asking about GIGI... (our beloved goat we gifted him) she is anxious to know if she were bred and had any babies we could steal.. ha ha ha..

Kids and I are keeping very busy... LoRd willing Jason should be returning home from deployment in December...

I do hope you all are staying cool.. I hear the temps are pretty bad again this year.. I know we have been hitting some warm weather... the state is in a burn ban until October... which I understand does not happen often..

Good to hear from you as always, I just the other day was mentioning my Goosey I got from you he's still my Lil' Buddy and protector, I just love him he's a joy to hang out with in the yard everyday. Look forward to you all getting to come pay us Okies a visit one of these days...

Finally home from working all day. I'm tired. Still haven't quite recovered from my heat exhaustion. I'm battling headaches and muscle cramps off and on. I think I'll go get some gatoraid and see if that helps. The chickens seem to be doing fine in their a/c house. I'm not going to like the electric bill when it comes next month I'm sure, but it's a lot less hassle than having to go out every hour or so with ice bottles or running the mister constantly so that the yard becomes a mucky mess.

We lost a rabbit today. It had been sick anyway but we were giving it a chance to recover instead of putting it down but I guess this heat was just too much even with a/c. RIP Marshmellow. At least we have her babies to continue with. We have to butcher tomorrow. Not looking forward to the actual "doing the deed" part. But looking forward to having rabbit meat in the freezer and on my table.
I lost one old hen from the heat so far, the rabbits are all hanging on hugging up to the water bowls or sitting in them if they can LOL I also lost a few small chicks not so much from the heat but more so cause of their posistion in the pecking order I had a problem with some of the little birds getting all the feathers pecked off the shoulders till they started bleeding and then it real bad till they couldn't recover, I changed their feed to a 20% and added scratch grain in the evening and it has stopped for now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed though :)

Well they say when it rains it pours and around me it's mostly true except in regards to the weather no rain here and it's dryer than a popcorn %$*&! LOL I went to see my Dr today to get a referral over the issue I had last Fri and wound up in the ER again this time not for my ticker my kidney decided it was time to introduce me to the joyous wonders of passing a stone (Oh joy!!) it's not a large one but I've never dealt with one before and hope once this one has gone its way I never have to do this again,
Hope everyone has a great night and a better tomorrow :)

Ouch! I hear that is miserable. I hope you feel better soon.

Totally forgot!!!!!!

Buster & anyone else~~~ got some insider info that the $1 hen sale is coming soon. I know they seem to do it at least 1 time a yr. The hens are about 18 months old. they are a little over 2 hours away from me, I just cant imagine transporting those birds in this heat. Not sure how many birds I could fit in the back of the truck if I did go, figure we would need to buy at least 100 to cover gas. If anyone decides to go & pull a trailer up there LMK & maybe we can work something out. Taron wants some more egg layers of course, since we don't have enough chickens or spend enough in feed already!
There contact info is
fisher ag enterprises: 918-367-6382
Just seeing this, do you know where they are located? Not sure we need anymore layers right now but at that price I would love to get some more.

Got to spend some time with the birds last night, we lost 4 birds yesterday to the heat. Two chicks that one had a leg issue anyhow but I was letting it go to see if it would make it anyhow since it was a pullet. One of Nathanael's chicks from POOPS, not one of his good ones but these are just tick eaters but didn't make it any less of a loss to him. The one I am most upset by is the loss of one of our CW roos. The other roo isn't act good either so really praying he makes it. The pullet acts like the heat isn't bothering her but the roos just were not handling it well. I watered their pen down and gave them mud puddles to lay in. My other birds are doing fine, I did have 3 guineas hatch out of my 8 dozen eggs we set. I don't think the humidity was kept right this last week while I was gone so that may be why not many have hatched yet. They are due to hatch this weekend but I am not holding out hope for the others.

Only working 1/2 a day today so I can spend time with my kids this afternoon. I figure most of the day will be spent going out to fill waterers and keep birds cool. Hope everyone has a good day and we don't loose to many animals to this heat.
