WHITE CHANTECLER HATCHING EGGS
FREE IF SOMEONE WOULD LIKE THEM

THE HENS ARE LAYING GREAT AND I WOULD HATE TO SEE THESE EGGS GO TO WAIST
I COULD MEET SOME WHERE OR I COULD SHIP THE EGGS IF YOU PAY THE SHIPPING COST

I wish I saw this yesterday. We get feed every week in Siloam Springs and today was that day. We could have done it.

My incubator never gets shut down, so maybe we can get together next week if you still have to many.

Thank you all for the support in regards to my roo. It is so strange to visit the barn and coops without hearing his deep chuckling at me.
I am going to try and hatch some eggs from his hens...a mixed farmflock. Unfortunately I only have space for 8 eggs in the incubator as I am trying to hatch some guineas for my neighbor. I may try to give some guinea eggs to one of my broodies and hope they will hatch them ok. That way I can fit more eggs in the bator!

Hope everyone stays safe in the next few days as the weather may turn nasty.

I love the princess bride names as well. My youngest daughter, who is now 28 can still recite that movie from beginning to end. She would love to name our chickens after the movie characters too!

I think you should start small and let them supply you with others--at least at first. Another thing you might not be taking into consideration is the amount of poop you'll have to deal with. If you start small, you'll get a feel for whether or not you really enjoy doing it. While their eggs are small, silkie eggs are larger than most bantams and are also good eating.

Must have been a really wild, rainy and windy night. Knew it rained a LOT! Went out at 10:30 to put silkies in small houses to protect against a predator that had been getting it--not for about a week though. Everyone had gone in on their own except one--who was soaking wet, but the pens were only a little wet in spots. Haven't been out yet this morning, but Vashi said when he watered them all, ALL the pens are wet and muddy. The greenhouse hasn't ever been muddy before (may have blown in the front, screened door), nor have the pens in front of and behind the small barn. All our pens are covered, but some leak. Usually only have a small amount of mud in spots. He says they're all very muddy. Dread going out.
