That looks like a lot of okra. Remember back a month or so when you wasn't sure if your plants were going to produce at all.
Last yr I picked the last of my tomatoes in november. Then they ripened on my window sill over a few weeks time. I wouldn't loose hope yet. But if you don't have any green tomatoes I would indeed be nervous.
I have 20+ volunteer watermelons that came up once we finally got some rain. They are growing well, but I doubt they will be ripe enough for us to eat. Imagine the chickens will still love them!
I am dreaming of a milder summer next yr. 2 + months of over 100 is awful!

It's about 4' x 2' x 30" tall or so and runs the whole house except AC/furnace and hot water, does run the well though for cold water. Comes on automatically 13 seconds after the power goes out. I have 125 gallon to 250 gallon aquariums for my beloved Oscars. I was scared to death of a power failure and them dying because of no filtration. My husband got this generator brand new, ordered it online through an awesome company and it was $2000.00 w/free shipping. He hooked it up himself. It's so wonderful and has come in handy time and time again the past 4 yrs. I can get all the details from him and where he ordered from. I just can't imagine they're wanting 5-10 K???? You must be going through a dealer or something, if you buy direct it's way way cheaper.
Edit: I just called my husband, he said ours is a 7 kw. But it pulls the entire house with the exception of the central heat/air and hot water. Our house is a total of 1440 sq ft. Maybe yours is way bigger if you need such a huge one?

Yes, and that's just the tip of the okra iceburg, we get that much every couple of days and so far no sign of slowing down. I wasn't sure how long it would bear in the cooler temps. The cukes have really slowed down that was our first to pick in a couple of weeks, but I have already put up 60 qts this year.
I am just now getting a handfull (literally) of green tomatoes, even if I can keep them from freezing into nov. it will literally be less then 10 or so, and that from huge healthy looking plants. I am seriously thinking about not doing heirloom tomatoes next year, tomatoes on my salad and in my sauces would taste better then ideology does!

I understand about the fish when the power is out. I use to be into reef tanks & keeping seahorses. Dh was moving one of my nano tanks, ignored my multiple request that we take all the sand & corals out-- only drained the water & removed the big stuff. Because he was in a hurry & i take to long. The tank cracked when he was moving it. I lost thousands of dollars in corals and a few rare fish. I never loved my tanks the same after that. Within the next 2 yrs I sold everything off. I would love to have seahorses again, but takes a huge amount of space & time. I spent hours each day tending to live feedings & taking care of my tanks. At one time I had 14 tanks. Now I have none. Never got into fresh water fish, can't seem to keep them alive! Go figure.

There are actually a few breeds that show up in a bold font. Wasn't sure if the bold font ment something different. Just caught my eye & made me wonder. Didn't know if those were the birds you did well with when you showed or what. Maybe I was just thinking too hard!

My son austin who has always had struggles with school lessons and sensory issues made the Principals Honor Roll list. I am so proud of him because it means he is working hard to over come his "issues" so he can learn. Whoop Whoop..
