***OKIES in the BYC III ***

When I let the turkeys out of the coop this morning they got extra attention. I'll never be able to eat turkey for Thanksgiving again after raising these 3 from babies. My husband says it's Turkey Pardon Day.
I'm not much for holidays. When I was growing up we were forced into all the traditional crap every year because "that's what you're supposed to do". With all the bad stuff going on behind closed doors at my house when I was young it seemed to me they were a bunch of hypocrites. I never got over that feeling. I love having my kids and my husband and animals around for the holidays but not my other relatives. After I turned 50 I officially boycotted holidays with the rest of the "family" (if that's what you want to call them).
My oldest son lives in NC but my daughter and 15 yr old son are here. We're going to iHop later & having eggs and pancakes. I honestly can't think of a better way to celebrate lol!
Then tomorrow I'm doing one of my favorite hobbies-working on birds pens! I'd do it today except the hardware stores are all closed so I can't go get the stuff I need.
So Happy Turkey Pardon Day! If you've got families that actually care about you, count your blessings!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

There is so much I have to be thankful for this year. I am thankful to have my daughter home for Thanksgiving Day, I have wonderful friends, great job, wonderful home and chickens, chickens chickens.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with those they love and care about.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We have had a peaceful, quiet and serene day....wonderful food and good laughter and now we are all just chillin' out and letting everything settle..........

What a pleasant way to spend what is usually a not so enjoyable day for us (long story....late husband was a "stickler" for protocol, etc.) I miss the people who are not here with us, but I am beyond thankful for the ones that are.

We also had a nice Thanksgiving with our daughter, SIL, grandson and his girlfriend. We all ate too much.

Two partridge and one possibly porcelain showgirls hatched under mama today. Hated to take them away from her, but I feel they are much safer in the house. She is my ONLY lavender showgirl and he is a porcelain project silkie. She hatched two this spring, but one was dead when I found it. The other is growing well. The partridges have high vaulted skulls and al three have good toes. My showgirls are slowly making a comeback.

Guthrie Grain here in town said they have Game Cock Ration by Shawnee Feed, I think it's the same stuff GotGame was talking about.
It's 15 % protein & ingredients say:
Wheat Middlings, Wheat, Corn, Milo, Oats, Dehydrated Alfalfa Meal, Soybean Meal, Hominy Feed, Meat & Bone Meal, Sunflower Seed
Does that sound good or no? Beings they're a Shawnee dealer I'm hoping they'll have that stuff you were talking about that you feed. I'm going to run up there tomorrow.

Just got in ben out feeding an watering the birds ..Went to inlaw's to eat at noon an stayd til about 4 ..Wen we gotback Macy went back to the wood's hunting .
She hasnt seen any thing .. They are having the sale at Praug Friday an Sat ..FRiday you can drive out an an buy the bird's you wont be for the sale ..
Call's duck pigeun's Big cochin's lot's of bird's checkd in all ready..

had a great whirlwind visit with daughter and family... here are the twins- youngest girls of 8, she jokingly calls them Thing 1 and Thing 2...

the older kids were fascinated with the chickens and ducks....
