***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good morning all.

Loving this spring-like weather and so are the chickens. The young ones have been exploring the big world outside their brooders and the garage. It's so funny to watch them. Each day they venture out a little farther than the day before. The large fowl aren't bothering them at all. In fact it seems as though they avoid them altogether.

Didn't get any work done on the coops last week so we're giving it a try again this week. Hope the weather holds out long enough to get them built.

Two of my grandkids have been here with me since Sunday. I sure enjoy having them around.

Buster, sorry about your pups, hope they mend quickly and whatever it was is caught soon. Maybe it got the worst of the fight.

Cowboy, you will find once you sleep better you will feel better during the day. Our old pastor had apnea and said it was amazing how much better he felt during the day once he wasn't snoring all night.

Hubby finished the brooders (well minus paint but that will wait until summer when I'm not hatching anymore chicks for a while). Here are a few pictures.

Here they are in the works, he made them where all the dividers come out so I can make bigger brooders if I need to. Poor little darlings will have to listen to the washers and dryers going most all day (yes we have 2 of each but with 6 kids it is a must, lol). The fronts slide out as well to make cleaning easier. They are on a pedistal that came out of the house's original closets. It has 4 drawers in it so now I can keep extra feeders and what not down there.

Here they are with their wire covers, hubby has now decided he wants to put wire inserts in the doors on top as well so he will add those this week.

here are last weeks hatch exploring their new brooder.

and last but not least the little banty cochin brooder. These guys crack me up. They were running around spreading their wings like they were big guys. They are a blast to just sit and watch. Told hubby I need wire fronts so I can sit down there and just watch them play.

Good looking set up.

Buster sorry about your girls, I hope you get whatever that was! Thats bad if it took on both dogs!

Well, the dogs won, apparently, because whatever it was left. The Pyr was muddy from head to tail, so I figure she was rolling around with something down by the pond. Whatever it was must have taken off. The lab has a big gash in her face, so we are thinking some kind of cat.

It is possible the male participated at the end of the fight, and whatever it was decided it couldn't handle all three dogs.

My lab is still at the vet. They kept her overnight to work on her and let her heal a bit. She is a third the size of the big dogs, but she has a lot of heart.

My eggs are here, my eggs are here!!!!

I've been on a CPAP machine for 4 or 5 years, and it was a huge help from night one. However, I was told just the opposite about placement, and mine is on the floor. In addition to being very tired from not sleeping, the periods of not breathing reduce the oxygen in the blood, and when it goes down past a certain level, all your organs are damaged from the oxygen deprivation. Years of that deprivation will lead to all sorts of health problems. My machine makes very little noise.

Posted this over in Breeds What Am I but not getting any love over there. Can anyone here tell me what they think this little brown stripey bird might be? It is supposed to be a standared brown egg layer but I can't match it up to anything inthe catalog. I ordered 12 assorted, like donuts. Not doing that again. It's making me crazy trying to place this bird. They are 3 weeks old.
