That would be great, my 19 month old daughter is in love with her turkeys, so I am looking to pull the ol' flush the dead goldfish and go buy another one at walmart trick, before she noticed that two of them are missing. She normally hand feeds them so it may not work out for me, but I would love to have a few more roaming around our farm.

Pepper48_98 welcome to the byc forums. I havent been here long but the people here are great and loads of information. Seems to be several here from/around tulsa. Im in Tahlequah not to far away. What kind of poultry do you raise?

At the moment, I don't have any poultry. I use to have chickens, ducks and geese but got out of it for a while. I just bought an incabator and will be looking for eggs to hatch soon. I want to get set up before I start hatching. I haven't decided yet what breed or breeds I want yet. I have to narrow it down. lol

Welcome Peppers! We are in the Jenks area! Lots to learn from this group.....

DH and I took a totally selfish day and went to Krebs and then on to a very "off the beaten path" group of roads that led us to lots of thrift/antique/junk stores!!!! Lordy I love those!!!!!!

We left Jenks around 9am......hit Krebs around 11ish and didn't get back until 5pm..............ahhhhhhhhhh! Wonderful break from 9 to 11 for dinner and the rest of the kid stuff and dogs and cats and chooks and gkids and.....................

I am so looking forward to the Chickenstock in October!

Well, I have been terribly busy with the county fair (I worked there for 28 hours, not counting all the time for my projects/chickens!) and everything else. But, I finally have plenty of time to check in here, comment on some posts, and give you all an update of my life

Of the 19 chickens I entered, I got 2 Class Champions, 9 1st, 3 2nd, 1 3rd, and the rest lower ribbons (except for two that didn't place). You can see my completely updated website here - www.freewebs.com/gracefulbantams
I
will be going to the State Fair on saturday. Oh, and I am signing up for my first poultry
show of the fall - Newcastle :d

I had plans of really thinning out my birds at the county fair, but when the time came, I could only bare to part with two.

whitecra, tell your son we said congratulations on his fantastic wins

DutchChic, that is very cool about the Lavender Orps! I hope they turn out well for you

Oh, and did you really have to mention that you had Sebrights for sale
tongue.png
Now you've made me go and ask how much you are selling them for, and if they are show quality, and if there's any place we could meet up (poultry show?) and all that good stuff!

If you post a picture, I'm sure we could help you decide what breed/mix they are

Grace, congrats! Ok so when is the Newcastle show? What will you be taking this year? Oh, and have you got any news on the Shawnee show yet? I think my family is going with me again, and my hubby said he'd even go!

Ok everybody, most of you know that I got married and moved into town, and had to sell my chickens... But look what I got!!!

I unloaded the chicken delivery at work today. This little guy was gettin his toes pecked at, so I got to take him home!
big_smile.png
He's feather legged, so I figured he's a Cochin. But I noticed tonight on one of his feet that he's got 5 toes! Didn't see the other though, he was asleep. Hubby said I could at least keep it til its bigger, but I'm hoping it'll be a hen and he won't be able to part with it. *haha*

That's fantastic, Cammie! Your little chick has a beard, just so you know
smile.png
It really reminds me of my Porcelain d'Uccle chicks, except they don't have 5 toes

Newcastle is Oct. 4th, and that is a lot sooner than I realized!
I think Shawnee is always the 1st weekend in December.

I lived in Altus and Lone Wolf for a while, when I was pretty young. My dad was in the Air Force and was being trained for Power Production at the base at Altus. I sure remember all of the sand burrs when we lived in Lone Wolf.

I think your sand burrs are what my husband "lovingly" calls spikey balls. You get them on something, They're on! In your hand, It's in!! Nasty things. And the dang things grow in clumps of a bazillion, so there is no escape. Yeah it has a drawback or two. I wish we got more storms... but then again we don't get blown away too often! I love the flat openness of it. How you can see for miles. And the stars and the prairie wind. And Oklahoma has the best people anywhere. They are the nicest and will do anything to help you if you are in a jam. I am an okie for sure.

Not a Silkie, it has white legs and beak. I'd forgot Sultans do have 5 toes, but I think its a standard. Oh wait, Sultans do come in Standard don't they? It came from Ideal Poultry, and was in the Standard bin with a bunch of Polish. I did think it looked extra poofy for a Cochin chickie. Ah, there's no tellin what it is! But as long as its a hen I don't care. *ha* I will try to get a look at that other foot later, to see if the extra toe I saw was just a fluke.
