I was just in there this evening and they still had some chicks left. I had gotten a few banties the other day, and unlike in the spring, they had things clearly marked. Pullets were White Rocks, and what looked like Barred Rocks. A bin of straight runs that had what looked like Ameracaunas and BO's and a few others. Some guineas, and some banties. The other day they had RIR pullets and Ameracauna pullets.

Ronnie, Atwoods is supposed to have the chicks separated into labeled bins of Straight Run, Pullets, Bantams, and Guineas. But the people unloading them into the bins don't always care or check. All vent-sexed pullets are marked by metal bands in their wings. (Don't ever try to remove these, by the way.) Banded Pullets are only Standards. The Bantams and Guineas are all straight run, as well as the unbanded Standards.

(P.S. I used to work for Atwoods in Chickasha.)

Who, among all the Okies, raises standard White Rocks? I need a rooster from an NPIP flock. I would prefer one from a breeder, but I'd take a hatchery bird if he is the right type and meets the standard.

I'm also looking for a trio or pair of Ginger Red OEGB, and a pair or trio of White Rosecombs. I'll even accept hatching eggs of these two breeds.

Terry Britt is the manager of Twisted Feather Farms.

You could get into contact with him. He has some VERY good standard White Rocks!

He was the superintendent for the Tulsa State Fair. I could probably get you his contact info.

You might want to ask him about the OEG's too!

What do you mean by don't try removing the pullet bands? I always take them out as soon as I get them home. It's dicey, slow work to remove them but I sure wouldn't want to leave them in. I thought they were supposed to be removed?

Well. As of now I'm in Fayetteville, AR going to school for Poultry Science.

My home and my flock are in Claremore, OK! lol!

I always take out the pullet bands too, but I don't purchase Atwoods chicks anymore. NPIP birds for me now!

If you can get the bands out, I'm impressed!

Alot of people have come into the store complaining because removing the band killed their chicks.

My old neighbors never took there's out, and it never interfered with their growth, activity, or appearance.

Okiemommy, they should have them, but I don't know for sure. I will PM you the phone number, just in case you'd like to check.
