Beating out the DONs of the other 8 facilitys in the company. That means her home has the best nurseing staff and the best clinical practices and functions of any of the homes. She was totally surprised and we were very pleased. Now if I could only get her to likeing chickens! But I did get her to agree to plan on making a trip back to Ok. for the spring POOPS!

Hope everyone gets rested up and has a great week.

Doodle - Congrats on her award!

Q - I wish I could take the roo off your hands, I'd love to breed the pretty little things! But we plan on bringing the chickens to town in the spring, so no roos. I'll trade you my Maran pair for a Silkie hen!

Okay, that's what I figured. Thanks!

good idea - wish I had thought of that last year when I installed 3 sets of them. I flipped up one set of them to limit the number of nest boxes they could get into, but never thought about flipping them up and down daily.

hmmmm what color are you wanting?? I would say black but that would get me a big Divorce and a son that would truly hate me. We have one black hen and she took 1st this weekend I think that I have white and Brahmas left cant remember for sure,

Grace I got the birds to Neecys house, but there was no one home so I stuck them in a cage in one of her cops. Those were some beautiful birds!!!

"Getting rid of"?

Yep gonna make Silkie soup!!! No just kidding I am going to be taking a group of birds to the auction this weekend, being at the show has given me lots of great ideas so I am gonna have to downsize temporarily so that I can build the flock that I want!!!

Q - Just has to be a hen and a Silkie! Is white the only other hen you have?
Congrats on the win, that is absolutely awesome!! Tell the kiddo congrats, and not to worry, I won't be taking it. Lol. But you should get a roo for her and breed them. Ribbons make people want them more!

Ya'know I think I have finally figured out why everyone thinks these silkies are such sweet birds. It's because when you go to pick them up they can't see you so they don't run. That must be it

Did I just hear there is an auction and silkies will be in it? I went ahead and skipped the one in Blanchard so Char and I could make it home early. We had had a very long and tiring week. Now this week I will be busy, creating separate breeding quarters and a pigeon area, which I still have to finish figuring out.

Teach (or anybody who want to put their 2¢ in)- Thank you for the cages! Have you got any suggestion for the pigeon area? One of the breeders at the show was telling me they put their pigeons above the chickens because they are so wasteful and that way the waste can go down to the chickens. So they have a loftish type area above the chickens or something. I am still trying to totally picture this and how I will build something similar. I got a good start on a new addition that I added to one side of my greenhouse and it will have about 6 different breeding quarters, with their own runs and was thinking of doing something like they were saying.

I went over and looked at her but they don't want my feedback as I would have everyone saying Huh? Or worse yet " what an idiot"

The front of her neck is free of follicle, no sign of feathering at all. And take your hand and cover all but the legs, look kinda stout to you? Like maybe Cornish or Oriental Game? Many of our Orientals have a bare streak running from the head down to the base of the keel bone.

I really think she is a sport, a throw back to the Oriental, Malay, used in the breeding of the RIR. Just certain traits came out
