Good evening everybody!!!
Well after a really stressful day at work today where I spent a good portion of it wrestling with a student (again) I was able to go pick up my baby chicks. 5 dark brahmas, 5 white cochin and 5 black silkies.

Oh and 11 buff packing peanut chicks.

Dang this bunch is really noisy!
So it seems like Okie BYC will be well represented at the auction in Blanchard Saturday. I hope they have plenty of nachos.

Uli is shaking his head at me and rolling his eyes.

Does anyone know if Jerry is going to have the heater on in the auction building? I need to make sure I dress appropriately; tights, long johns, heavy jeans, (coveralls if I had them), undershirt, t-shirt, turtle neck, heavy sweater, full length coat, hat, scarf, gloves, 3 pairs of socks and work boots. All that if he has the heat on, if not I am in big trouble.

It is now 9 pm and I have had like 3 hours of sleep each night for the last 5 nights and I am exhausted. Hope everyone has a wonderful evening and look forward to seeing y'all at the auction Saturday.

can you syringe some down his throat, or put a baby spoonful in the back of his throat and massage his throat until he swallows? The good thing about medicating chickens is that they don't have teeth, so if you can get something in their mouth you can stuff it down their throat with your finger. How about putting yogurt on bread so you have something solid to stuff down his throat?

Apparently I'm dumb with 2 thumbs because not only is force feeding a chicken nothing at all like hand feeding a parrot, I ended up with yogurt, crumble, and bread everywhere. Little prima donna cockerel doesn't want anything to do with it.

Don't mix in the crumbles, sprinkle them on top of the yogurt.

hehe... I would just dip his beak in it. Or get one of his lady friends to eat some. If you can get just one of the birds to eat it, the rest will follow.

Soooo everyone is headed to Blanchard?? I love that auction. I just don't know about it being sooooo cold. We went to Cement last weekend and it was tiny! LOL! We got to sell our two roos which is all I cared about...we were the last lot to sell and I think our lot number was 10~!

Ok, got him a new batch of yogurt with the crumble just sprinkled across the top. I tried dipping his beak in it first, but that didn't encourage him to eat it. He doesn't have any "girls" inside to show him that it's safe to eat and he's convinced that it's poisonous.

Ok folks...I'm going to admit that I wanted a white Christmas and that I love snow. Now, after the past two days....I don't care if I never see another white Christmas!! LOL....NOT

However, I am getting very sick of this cold. I love snow when it is around 28 and sunny and able to play in it. This is so darn cold I think Frosty would have frostbite if we built him. I can't even imagine what our pens will be like when this stuff thaws. Every time I go out I just envy folks that have a big barn with their critters inside. I can promise this when we move I better get one. I don't think I'll have much problem talking my DH into it.

We haven't lost anything else since the first night of the first snow. I think we buttoned the hatch down good enough. I went to check on the incubator and there were 4 of the cutest chicks looking out at me. Just seeing those tiny faces kind of made you remember why you keep chickens even in this cold weather. They were hollering so I put them inside a small fleece blanket to take them back to our house to put in the brooder and they just cuddled in and got totally quiet. They were so adorable.

Well, everyone up this way is out of school again tomorrow. Can say it didn't hurt my feelings any. I just want to stay in where it is warm.

I think I'm gonna head to bed. It has been a long boring day and I gotta work tomorrow.

Gettin' there. I was just out carrying turkeys two by two into the external garage as they aren't even smart enough to roost out of the wind, and my snot didn't freeze in my nose when I breathed in, so it ain't quite North Dakota cold.

And Q, I get the hating Texas thing as I don't care for UT at all. But the OU fan requirement is going a bit far I think.

NN are you out there buddy? I ahve a question. I finally got the aueromycin for my pigeons. Its supposed to be like a seven day treatment(water soluable). Is this one of those drugs that destroys the bacteria in the gut and you have to replace it after treatment? If so how do you do that. Pigeons aren't like clucks, they won't eat things like yogurt. Its hard to even get them to drink medicated water. I saw a couple today eating ice chips to keep from dring the water!

Getting down in the single digits tonite. So afr birds are doing okay. Lost one pullet that wasn't thriving. I am putting all birds on med.water for a week and see if it makes adifference. Most seem fine but I figure if everybody gets treated at the same time its better.

Someone on Nashville C L had york cross pigs for sale for $5! They looked to be about 15-20 pounders. Sure wish I more land space.
Going to borrow the son-in-laws incubator and try and hatch some buttons. Also trying to catch the mille O E as soon as she lays so I can set her eggs.
