LG incubator, is that a Little Giant. If I could see a picture of it I could make one.

My chick crib pad goes to all but about 12 inches around my brower, the "tie" sits on top of the lid. This is a wrap around kinda like an apron.

Yes weather will be a factor for the get together. We can ask Tbird if they would let us do a swap/sell thing. Want me to call and ask for prices and if they will allow it? I would need to know an approx. date, like spring(we get into some weather issues here) or early summer (i know the chicken stock at Jacobs Cave in MO. is 1 weekend in June)

I say first few weekends in May or June...should avoid graduations...plus weekends avoid little leagues...sounds like a fun place for families

Anyone around the Quartz Mt. area have Japs or brahma bantams or heck any bantams or pigeons??? I gotta go to a teacher thing and it might as well try to bring back something useful like birds!

Gerald and I bought several chicken coops today from a nice young man named Dwight in Yukon. He is trying to save money to buy a car and to take a missionary trip. I told him that I'd recommend him to our group. He's willing to build rabbit hutches, chicken pens, dog houses, etc.

I honestly don't think most country chickens would survive with a chicken run made of only chicken wire, but city chickens probably would, if in a fenced residential area. Anyway, Dwight gave us a good price to buy several coops, and we're quite happy with them, other than we need to add latches and a perch for roosting. We'll be building some chain link runs this weekend and putting the coops in them for small flocks of chickens. I'm sure my birds will like the coops better than dog houses!

UPCOMING POULTRY SHOW !!! I just wanted everyone to know about a good little show that is coming up soon. It is called N.E. Oklahoma Poultry Show. I attended last year and it is a good show.
It will be held in Pryor on March 7th. Hosted by Pryor 4-H and held at Mayes County Fair Grounds , Hwy 20 East.
Show Supt. is Kenneth Kvittum and his e-mail is [email protected]. Entry fee is 2.50 per bird and sale coops are 1.00 per hole. Entries close Feb 13th.

TJ and Kendra are sorting through their birds and deciding
which ones they want to enter at Pryor. I'm lovin' it that
this one is only 30 minutes from home. They have a show
here in Tahlequah a week from Saturday that is just a
Cherokee County 4-H Show.

How many of you will be at the Pryor show? Enough of us that
we'll try the name tag bit again?

Hi everybody!

I live in the suburbs of Norman, and would like to raise some Australorp hens. Does anybody know of a source for these locally? The chickens I had growing up were whatever was at the feed store, and some were better than others. The Australorp "looks" like a good breed for here with the heat tolerance and all...

Anybody have experience with this breed? I have two small daughters that want pet chickens that will lay eggs. I wouldn't mind silkies for the kids, but they aren't really good layers.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

We have black Autralorps and yes they are beautiful birds and lay well. (except mine are refusing to lay right now!!) And they have big expressive eyes and are good natured. But our buff Orpingtons seem to be more kid friendly in my opinion. My 10 yr old son is always picking up one of our free ranging BO girls with little to no trouble.
My bantam cochins are also really fun to pet and handle for kids. I had a roo that would go to Shaun's school and walk on the desks and the kids loved all over him, he ate up all the attention.

I just called to get an enrty form for the Pryor Show!! The kiddo wants to take his "new" modern games. I will probably be banned from the sale room by my DH
